The Game Sets The Record Straight On His Nipsey Hussle Tributes

The Game announced his new label Prolific Records earlier this week, which was inspired by the late Nipsey Hussle’s face tattoo. Subsequently, people started accusing the veteran Los Angeles-based rapper of using Nip’s name for profit.

On Thursday (October 17), the Game took to his Instagram Stories and insisted that wasn’t the case. He explained he even received a “blessing” from Nipsey’s brother and administrator of his estate Blacc Sam.

“The use of he word ‘Prolific’ by myself is only my way of helping to carry on my bro’s legacy,” he wrote. “Any merch that has been sold has my face on it, my albums is all pictures, logos etc are related to THE GAME. Out of the love for Nip, Blacc Sam, his immediate family etc I purposely did not include any pics of Nip nor his likeness & directed all traffic to The Marathon Clothing as I’ve done since bro’s passing.

He continued: “I’ve spoken closely to ‘Blacc Sam’ every step of the way & have had his blessing with things I’ve done to help honor bro’s name & continue his legacy. I’ve only done things I feel bro would’ve done to keep me going if I was no longer here in the physical. Before assuming, passing judgment, or running to the internet to be negative, DM me or hit me.

Since Nip’s March 31 murder, it’s been evident his death hit the Game hard. Over the past seven months, he’s consistently shared heartfelt tributes to Nip on his social media accounts.

Although Game says his first run of Prolific Records merch sold out in 30 minutes following this week’s launch, Marathon Clothing revealed it has a new clothing line “coming soon” rocking the word “Prolific.”

    1. All his career he’s used other rappers’ names to sell shirts, now that his rap career is dying he’s sunk to using a dead guy to sell shirts. Not surprised at all.

    2. Everyone knows this label isnt ever going to be shit. Just like Black Wall Street, Blood Money, and Rolex Records. Just something to put on shirts or a chain. He still hasn’t put anyone on, not everyone is meant to be a boss.

    3. Dying?? Are you serious? Dr dre is producing alot of his new album, that cost slot of money there kid,for from dying, bet your dumbass his album breaks records when its release

      1. Lol. Based on whose word, his? He said The Documentary went diamond (10 million worldwide), he actually did half that.

As for the name calling…that’s just juvenile.

      2. Bro. Dre doesn’t make beats at all anymore. Dre “executive produces” albums. He just gives ideas. He doesn’t make good shit anymore. The Compton album was average at best, which was extremely disappointing or Dr Dre… It was so disappointing and not classic that nobody besides Dres hardcore fans knew the album existed… Former Dre works are one on universally by people who are both hardcore hip hop heads, and not hip hop heads at all. As someone who loved Dr Dre, I can tell you Dre is a front man often. He is s ghost producers and pays them for credit. Dres best beats ever were mostly made by others, with Dre playing with some drums and such to slap his name on it. The hypnotic melodies are almost never credited to Dre. Like, majority of beats on Doggysttke and Chronic were Daz Dillinger, not Dre. And majority of beats on 2001 were Mel Man, Storch, Focus, not Dre. I still love Dres old work, but he’s a has been…. The reason Dre sucks how is that he thinks he has to stay with the times to make a hot record. Opositie is true. People want that old school shit.

    4. No denying it, Game HAS been doing the most and been acting maaaad suspect since Nip passed. Game’s always been one to ride other people’s’ stars but this is ridiculous. #ANipPostADayUntilIFadeAway, foh I don’t remember him doing that for his homie Frog smh

      1. Nigga, you smoking. Nipsey put Nipsey on. Game ain’t do shit. If anything, the 60’s put cuzz on. Nip barely did any songs with Game. Go back and listen to Nip shit. Why wouldn’t you want to do a song with or drop plenty shit with the nigga who “helped put you on”? Game and Nip barely got joints together. Nip’s star rose, while Game BEEN faded into obscurity.

    5. Why wasn’t the Game dick riding Nipsey when he was alive? Oh that’s right, because he’s trying to profit off gang violence and the deaths it creates. Sad but the industry does people dirty while they’re alive and then cashes in when they’re beloved artists are murdered or die some other horrible way. Nipsey was never this famous alive or of any value to most of these people piggy backing on his death.

    6. Should have never died Nip. These niggas is using your death for attention and likes. Shit is disgusting man. says:

We don’t even see who Nip was actually and really close to in real life (the homie YG) doing the bullshit Game corny ass is doing. I don’t think Game and Nip was all that tight. I think Meek and Nip was really tight, obviously Nip and YG go back. How many songs did Game even do with Nip? Ever since Nip passed man, there’s been an unrelenting outpouring of selfish ass FAKE LOVE. Most of these Nipsey Hussle mourners probably never even heard one Nip verse until after Nip died. I wasn’t the biggest Nipsey Hussle fan or Stan in the galaxy but, I’ve always loved “Checc Me Out”, “The Weather”, and “Killa”. I’ve ALWAYS loved Nip verse on “Life Long”. I remember I was over my girlfriend’s crib banging the shit out of Life Long way back before Nip had passed. I was banging Life Long loud as fuck in traffic on some random shit WAY BEFORE Nip got killed. I’ll admit how it was only after the homie’s passing that I’ve come to love “No Days Off”, “That’s How I Knew”, and “Crenshaw & Slauson (True Story)”. I got all of Nip shit downloaded onto my phone. People who could appreciate a Nipsey Hussle verse or project are the ones really hurt by Nipsey’s untimely demise. I just hate the phonies who never even heard a Nipsey Hussle song who are acting so hurt by his death. Most of these people first time listening to Nip was probably when they heard “Racks in the Middle” or “Double Up”. I know Nip looking down on Game saying- “Damn homie. You taking this shit too far”. Game from Bompton, Nip was a South Central dude. Those niggas ain’t even from the same area. Surprised ol’ Jayceon ain’t got an image of Nip tattooed on his face yet. These corny niggas just exploiting the homie’s death for relevance.

      1. So, you just admitted to not being that much of a Nip fan, until after he died, and you’re attempting to call out the game? Lmao. Someone who took Nip’s demo, someone who took Nip on tour with him, even though they’re from two different worlds (Blood/Crip).

    7. It’s crazy, I’ve seen folks passed and the first week or so, nothing but love and support, than they complain about you if you don’t show or mention the late deceased, yet what Game has done was kept posting and keeping Nips legacy alive and well, even went out his way to do songs with Nipseys homies and artists yet he still tries to keep Nipseys Marathon going, dicks and hoes wanna hate on him, what is it gonna be, let Game not mention Nipsey to let folks forget his name or do what Game is doing now and letting prolific nipsey store and brand alive? Born 2 Rap please drop now, want to hear that collab with Nip

    8. From Timothy Silas – Hi, I’d really appreciate it if you would share and donate to my GoFundMe campaign, Burial & Expenses.

      gf.me/u/v33a9z

    9. Game took nip on his lax tour , and exposed him to the world , a blood taking a crip on tour , you just dont do that for someone your not close with

    10. Game should just focus on what he was born to do.. Rap!! kk.. Were is tha gotdam album man.. Can imagine how many Nip references will b on that..

    11. Fact is, we DON’T know how close they were. People look at how many features somebody has with another to determin how close they were.. we don’t know how many times they talked to each other or how close their friendship was. What we do know, is that Game took Nipsey’s demo.. took him to the studio, took him on tour.. gave him his chance to shine. Now Nipsey is gone, I can understand that Game want to keep his legacy alive. Just like YG and also Dave East still post Nipsey pictures on social media. Besides that, it’s like he said.. He doesn’t do shit without Blacc Sams approvement. You think if Game wasn’t a close friend of Nipsey, his brother would let Game do all these things? That J Stone, who was Nipsey’s best friend would let Game do all these things, even making records with Game, tributes to Nipsey… y’all hatin on a situation y’all don’t know shit about! If something’s wack af, it’s y’all acting like damn females with all that bullshit talk blablabla this and that.

      1. Everything you said is well documented but there’s just one paradox I’d like to have your take on. Why does Game let Wack disrespect Nip’s legacy and talk shit about Nip and not check Wack publicly about it ?
