The Game has announced he’s taking a break from social media, club appearances and phone to focus on his mental health following a string of unfortunate events.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday (August 1), the Compton-bred rapper explained the time off is necessary to ensure Drillmatic: Heart Vs. Mind arrives on the projected release date of August 12. The album has already been pushed back multiple times.
“I’ve always prided myself on my transparency in tow with sharing every part of my life & myself with my family, friends & my fans… the past two weeks have been a nightmare for me,” he wrote. “I have witnessed disloyalty on levels unimaginable by people I’ve trusted with my heart, money, career & livelihood. Not only have I been backstabbed & betrayed.. I’ve been left to pick up the pieces alone.”
He added: “I’m in no way shape or form angry with anyone for choosing to act in the manner they have as of recent & send love & well wishes from this day forward as there is no hate, malice or vengefulness in my heart.”
The Game continued with an update on his physical health as well, noting he had a recent accident that required stitches and is undergoing therapy for injuries suffered at the gym.
“On top of that, I’ve been in therapy for 2 weeks for my back for inflamed muscles & a bruised tailbone from over working out,” he said. “I also had an accident last night n cut my finger to the bone & had to receive 6 stitches.
“It’s been rough.. so I’ve decided to take a step back from my phone, social media & group settings, clubs etc so I can focus on completing my album so that my fans are happy with the delivery.”
He continued: “The date is AUGUST 12TH 2022 & I promise you it will not change or move. I’ve given everything that I am to this album & I guarantee GREATNESS. If any of my family or close friends are looking for me & it’s important… DM @almighty__joey & he will give you my email. I will reply when I can. This break is for my MENTAL HEALTH & to afford myself the capacity to complete my album in full & stay committed to my release date.”
Game ended his post by thanking all of his fans for the support over the years and encouraging everyone to stay “safe” from COVID-19 and Monkeypox. As he mentioned, Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind is expected to arrive on August 12 with executive production from Hit-Boy, Kanye West, Wack 100 and more.
Dude is notifying people he’s going to take a break like he’s actually going to be missed…
And his album drops on the 12th, so like 10 day break?
THE BREAK FROM SOCIAL SHOULD BE PERMANENT. EVER SINCE HE STARTED POSTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA HIS CAREER SLID AND PEOPLE STOPPED CHECKIN BC NOBODY LIKES A THIRSTY CLOWN.
I agree 100. Game wouldve been a bigger and more renowned artist if he was offline and only did interviews/freestyles before album drops.
YES. PRESERVING THE MYSTIQUE. SOMETHING ONLY A HANDFUL OF ARTISTS GET.
This ain’t the airport, Game – you don’t have to announce our departure. No one cares.
Game…bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh…
So tired of hearing the term “mental health” being tossed around by people who are moody because their life isnt they way they want it. The overuse of the term is really disrespectful to veterans with PTSD and victims of shool shooters who deal with REAL mental health issues. Fuck your work life balance you lazy fucks. The generation before you had all the same problems and lived life without depression and popping pills. Man up !
I think you are confusing “mental health” with “mental disorder” or “mental illness.” It is important for us to focus on both our mental physical well-being. When people speak about working on their mental health, they are not claiming to have a serious condition like PTSD, schizophrenia, etc. They are simply working on bettering their frame of mind. Someone should not claim to have a mental illness if they are just dealing with tough times, that would be insensitive, but it’s absolutely okay to say you’ve been struggling with your mental health.
People in the past suffered from depression and without medication would kill themselves or other people quite often so you are just talking out of your ass.
Actually, the suicide rate per capita is over 3x higher today than it was in the 1950s and earlier. So you are talking out of your ass there friend.
Okay so Nobody listen to this FOOL. you know what the number one cause of death is amongst males for the last 100 years +. Not Covid, not car accidents, or cancer it’s Suicide. The generation before us is a terrible example of ideal mental health because they didn’t recognize it as health. Suicide is still the number one cause of death, maybe start taking it serious and we wouldn’t have to read uneducated dismissive statements like this one. If you have mental health issues reach out to a professional don’t listen to this idiot
Heart disease is number one cause of death for males followed by Cancer. Good try though…
Straight Jacket Game needs to take a long break
