The Full List Of BET Award Winners 2016

Los Angeles was the epicenter of Hip Hop and R&B Sunday night (June 25) as the stars of black entertainment assembled for the 2016 BET Awards.

“Black-ish” stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross returned to host the TV event at the Microsoft Theater, with a ceremony that opened with a surprise performance from Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar.

Going into the awards, Drake led the nominations with nine, with Rihanna and Beyoncé tied for second place with five.

Drake won the prize for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, beating out last year’s winner Kendrick Lamar, as well as the other nominees Fetty Wap, Future, J. Cole and Kanye West. The Toronto rapper also took home the prize for Best Group for his What A Time To Be Alive mixtape with Future, and Best Collaboration with Rihanna, for their track “Work.”

The man behind that video, Toronto’s Director X, took home the honor of Video Director Of The Year.

Beyoncé was voted Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, and her video for “Formation” won for Video Of The Year, the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award, and the Centric Award.

Nicki Minaj continued her dominance in the Female Hip Hop Artist category, taking home the trophy for the seventh straight year.

Two prizes were pre-announced for the show: a Lifetime Achievement Award that went to actor Samuel L. Jackson for his body of work in film, and a Humanitarian Award that went to “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams for his contributions to the Black Lives Matter movement.

      2. Was wanderin wen u wld show up groupie, Nxt article comin…Drake no 1 on d billboard 4 8 straight weeks, wats ur take on dat? :p

    2. According to the media drake jcole and kdot are The only rappers around. T.i. Last cd was one of his betters ones yet not a drop of recognition.

      Can someone explain why?

    3. The satanic black awards gave the prizes to the artists using more satanic symbols in the year

    4. screw dat hiphop award dats pop/rnb coz dem only 1 nominee true to hiphop cultre “kendrick lammar”

    5. K dot haters be like DRAKE WON OMG HE DA 6 GOD KENDRICK AINT SHTT.
But it’s all natural, cuz k. neva tried to entertain people, he tried to wake people up, and yall still asleep

    6. its nice to see BET acknowledge african artists but it should extend to african sports stars or jus black sports stars in general from outside of the US so many are doing great things particularly in European soccer

    7. BET Awards been garbage for awhile now. Lame ass host, none of the winners were even there which is why barely any awards were handed out on tv. My guess is all the money had to go to Beyonce and Usher to performer, hell Beyonce didn’t even accept her award. These awards have been trash and after that Designer performance Im sure he is a real retard.

    8. How did more black people vote for Drake, who never joins the conversation to help them. But didn’t vote for Kendrick, Compton born who makes complete albums for them. Black people are a black persons worst enemy.

    9. WOOOW…. The BET AWARDS 16 really impressive so interesting hmmm so far so good so nice i wish all the BET success in every good thing they lay their hands upon may God reward them Mightily and Real Good Kissessssss for all the BET..!!!!
