The Alchemist Recalls Recording “Chemical Warfare” With Eminem

Even though he’s been spinning for him for a number of years, it’s surprising to some that producer The Alchemist and Eminem have only ever linked up on one track – 2009’s “Chemical Warfare.” Now, in an exclusive interview with Complex, the California-based producer/emcee recalls the recording process of said track.

A-L-C said he was ecstatic to finally be able to work with Em on his album, especially given that Em was in the beginning stages of his recovery from drugs and alcohol. Still, the Gangrene member said that Em still apologizes to him to this day for the off-kitler accent he used on the song.

“It’s funny we laugh about it now cause that’s the era where he [Eminem] was just sobering up and he was still coming out of those accents. I was so happy and it was so dope at the time but he was kinda like over the accent thing. A couple times Eminem has been like, ‘Yo my bad I had to give you one of the accent joints for your album.’ A couple times he’s been like, ‘Yo my bad I had to give you one of the accent joints for your album.’ Like are you kidding, if I can get an adlib from Eminem I’m lucky. He’s the greatest, possibly, of all time. Regardless of me DJing for him, Em is the man.”

    1. I dont mind the accents at all. makes it more entertaining and allows for different and wordplay and infliction.

    2. i dont get it

      he says

“get a boner and dick swords with the jonas,

brothers you mother fucking mother aromas”

      NAHHHH

    3. why is everybody recalling shieet lately? is the world coming to a upmost end?? life flashing before are eyes!

      1. YEAH FUCK EMINEM HIS ALBUMS ARE ALL GARBAGE… HOW MANY RECORDS HAS HE SOLD LIKE 90 MILLION… THEM NUMBERS ARE WEAK AS FUCK… LIL WAYNE WILL SELL 90 MILLION FROM CARTER 5 ALONE

      2. lil wayne doesnt sell near what eminem sells and never will..eminem is near 100 mil lil wayne is only 10 mil

    4. Em has already released some of the dopest albums of all time so I dont get mad when I hear his last few albums. We probably wont get another dope Em album like his first few but he was in a totally different space than he is now. No doubt if he had a good subject to rap about he would kill it but hes not really into politics like Lupe or wants to start beefs by addressing the state of hip hop like Em probably would of back when he was on drugs.

    5. listen to relapse, he has some dope joints on there. loll granted the accent dose your head in on 4 or 5 tracks but its not as bad as ppl make out tbh.

    6. Eminem could make a dope ass album if he went with the right production.. I mean could you imagine Em spitting on El-P production?! That shit would be amazing!! He could get damn near every producer that he wants..
