Takeoff’s tragic death has been met with both sadness and shock from across the Hip Hop community, with Gucci Mane, Killer Mike, Joe Budden and many more reacting to his passing.
The Migos rapper (real name Kirshnik Ball) was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas in the early hours of Tuesday (November 1). The 28-year-old was fatally wounded after a dice game turned violent and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Quavo, who was with Takeoff at the time of the shooting, was unscathed. Two other victims were transported to nearby hospitals with gunshot wounds, according to police.
Takeoff’s untimely demise has perhaps been most felt in his native Atlanta, Georgia, as many of the city’s musical flag bearers flocked to social media on Tuesday morning to pay tribute to the late Migos lyricist.
“This broke my heart[.] Rest In Peace @yrntakeoff,” wrote Gucci Mane — who worked with the Culture trio on hits like “I Get the Bag” and “Slippery” — on Instagram next to a photo of the late rapper.
Killer Mike added in a heartfelt tweet: “May God Bless Our Dead & May God Protect Our Living. Praying for the Migos family. Praying for my people that we may one day end this war with ourselves.”
Fellow ATLiens Mike WiLL Made-It, Rae Sremmurd, J.I.D, Rich Homie Quan, London On Da Track, K Camp, Baby Tate and the Ying Yang Twins also mourned Takeoff’s passing.
Outside of Georgia, New York natives Lloyd Banks, Ja Rule and Westside Gunn extended their condolences to Takeoff’s loved ones, while “Panda” hitmaker Desiigner broke down in tears on Instagram Live after learning of the rapper’s death.
“Bro, I can’t even hold it together. I can’t call Qua, I can’t call Offset, I can’t call none of these n-ggas,” he said while crying. “I’m done. I can’t live like this no more.”
Desiigner also suggested he was retiring from music, writing: “I’m done rap” in an Instagram Story.
The shockwaves of Takeoff’s death have also impacted beyond the music world, with Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, former NBA baller Jamal Crawford and retired NFL star Darrelle Revis among those who reacted to the news.
“No Fucking Way..,” a shocked Young tweeted, while an equally stunned Crawford wrote: “I can’t believe this. RIP Takeoff…”

What does that terrorist organization BLM aka Burn Loot Murder gotta say about this?!!?! They quiet as a church mouse!!!! Hahahahahahhaha
I hope one day all these anonymous trolls get exposed and have to face up to the consequences of talking like this
Man shut the fuck up,someone dead and you flapping about some irrelevant shit…this bigger than politics
How about you just be a human being today??? Just be a good person. Yet you think that your time is best spent trying to troll. You could’ve spent that time better yourself, instead you actively chose to be a horrid example of a person. Good luck to your children.
What consequences? Consequences like how Burn Loot Murder resort to Burning Looting and Murdering every time a white person kills a black, but completely oblivious to Black on Black crime?! BLM is a terrorist organization.
What the fuck is going on with this website? How is there zero moderation on threads like these? Seriously fuck you DX for allowing all these racist troll comments all the damn time. Everybody that works for your little website needs to get punched in the face.
I don’t agree with him using Takeoff’s death to make a statement about BLM. It’s sad what happened to Takeoff. Way too young. Wishing something to happen to people who have an opposing view isn’t any better.
Notice how it’s always boys/men …. female rappers lucky

RIP TakeOff. Gone too soon.
BASED ON HOW EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT HIM, IT SEEMS LIKE ITS ALWAYS THE GOOD ONES. RIP
I hate to say it, but if the Migos had stayed together instead ofthat Unc & Phew shit, Takeoff would still be alive. Offset would have been there with Cardi, and tjey probally would have had 10 armed bodyguards peeping around every corner.
All the people who hate chrisbrown haven’t
Using Emojis to address someone’s death is juvenile and tasteless. You don’t need to put a cartoon in your RIP ‘tweet’. Obviously this is sad. You know what the main root of all these killings is? MF’s being so obsessed with being COOL. They can’t just go to a nice place, with peaceful people, and have fun in private. They gotta go out in public, show off, try to make people jealous, roll dice and be a hotshot. It’s just not necessary. Rip to that man. But unfortunately these deaths don’t teach anyone anything.
Wow what’s going on in the world we gotta stop killing each other RIP Takeoff I’m praying for your family sad sad
Why would he be in that situation to begin with? People have no sense and don’t value their lives
Long live nothing the man is dead, maybe if they Kill off enough of these trash ass rapper, real hip hop will be able to make a return instead of all this trash and wack ass rappers that be getting kill in a year or two, you’ll keep killing each other hopefully by this time next year, most of these wack ass rapper be gone, time for real hip hop to come back
