Souls of Mischief’s Tajai Launches Fundraiser For Panama Hotel

Souls Of Mischief and Hieroglyphics MC Tajai Massey has launched an Indiegogo campaign for Hibiscus Garden, his recently acquired Panama hotel. Located near the town of Santa Catalina, the boutique resort features 19 rooms, a private beach, horses, an award-winning restaurant and more.

According to the campaign’s website, Massey is hoping to raise a “base level of $55,000.00 to build a small pool to cool off in, recording studio and a Yoga Shala.” Above all, he hopes to create a space where people can relax and tap into their creativity.

“I am super excited to be at a point in life where I can use my creative power to help other people create,” Tajai said in a statement to HipHopDX. “I hope to make an already awesome place even more enchanting. This is an unprecedented, or at least extremely rare, move for Hip Hop and for folks in general.

“I’m hoping to cause a paradigm shift in travel, where people go somewhere to actually relax, get in tune with self and be as creative and free as they can be. I want to connect the mind body and spirit through creative and meditative practices, good food and a beautiful, sustainable environment.”

As the veteran Bay Area rapper says on the Indiegogo website, “it’s time to make it [Hibiscus Garden] greener, take it off-grid, and upgrade with specialty offerings that will make it more comfortable, sustainable, and accessible.”

In addition to his fundraising efforts, Massey is also promoting his new group RAP NOIR and their upcoming self-titled album. Last July, RAP NOIR dropped a video for “Let It Rain” as well as the “Watchout!!!” single.

The collective plans to release “Overtime” and “Liftoff” featuring Pep Love as their next two singles in the very near future.

The project is expected to arrive in September along with a TRAP NOIR version of the album as well. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

    1. What is stopping Tajai from getting a business loan like a grown up? Why is he pan handling like this? Why is Tajai exploiting the good will of Souls/Hiero fans to fund a private business venture that has nothing to do with music? What’s in it for his fans? If I wanted to build a swimming pool and recording studio in my own hotel, I wouldn’t be begging rap fans to pay for it.

      1. Agreed. I’m a big hieroglyphs fan but I’m super tired of people “raising money” via hand outs and there is nothing in it for the contributors. Go get an investor and pay a dividend !

        1. Peace, this is Tajai. If you check out the campaign you will see that its goal is to give creatives, yogis, surfers, healers, hip hop heads…whoever a space for them to create and chill. I am appealing to those who are interested in travel, music and nature to purchase my new album and/or some other exclusive gifts (from limited-edition tees & animated vinyl to art, to vacation packages all the way up to having your own private festival at the hotel!) to help me beautify the space and make it more comfortable. It is already open, please check out the website. I am not asking for a handout, it is my intent to use my own art to gain support for creating an affordable space for others to create their own art for years to come (without participating in the usurious lending system). Please check out the campaign and come to the hotel!

          1. Your hotel is a private business venture. If your private business venture was a credible proposition, you’d have no trouble attracting investers who you would be able to reward with dividends. Put on a shirt and tie and go get that bank loan like an adult.
