Soulja Boy has claimed that he was “talking” to Ice Spice long before she blew up, and praised the Bronx rapper as one of his current favorite artists.

Big Draco spoke about the “Princess Diana” star in an interview with Bootleg Kev, during which he said he’s enjoyed watching her career take off from when he first discovered her.

“I like Ice Spice, I ain’t gonna cap,” Soulja said when asked which new artists he’s a fan of. “They gonna be like, ‘He picked a girl,’ but yeah, she new, she popping, I like what she doing. On gang, I found out about her before she got popping off.

“I was talking to her and her shit just took off. I like seeing shit like that, like a muthafucka just be under the radar and then just take off. I like seeing shit like that.”

When asked if he’d ever collaborate with Ice Spice, the “Crank That” rapper revealed they’ve already spoken about doing music together.

“Hell yeah! We already talked. I be talking to her. Shout out to Ice Spice, she cool. I like what she doing, for sure.”

It’s impossible to deny that Ice Spice is having a blockbuster 2023. Her and Nicki Minaj’s “Princess Diana (Remix)” outsold the entire Top 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart combined at the end of April, and allowed the 23-year-old to nab her first No. 1 Hot Rap Song after appearing on the charts four previous times.

While Spice seemingly came out of nowhere with her breakout hit “Munch (Feelin’ U),” it was recently revealed that her father was actually a prominent underground rapper back in the day and helped her hone her bars.

“He definitely inspired me to want to record,” she told Paper magazine. “I remember being in the studio with him. I was a toddler, probably. And I remember little flashes. Of course, not every detail, but small things like that being shown to you at such a young age make an impression on you.”

She continued: “Subconsciously, I ended up becoming an artist because I saw my father be one first. He’s a music lover himself. He’s a true Hip Hop head, beyond me, honestly. He knows everything. He’s always educating me on Hip Hop and shit like that.”

While Soulja Boy is an Ice Spice supporter, he made it clear last week that he isn’t a fan of NBA YoungBoy, and took shots at the Baton Rouge rapper despite him showing him love on social media.

The fiasco started when Draco scolded both YoungBoy and Lil Durk for announcing they would be dropping new albums the same day as him, accusing the young rap stars of “copying” him.

Durk’s Almost Healed and YoungBoy’s Richest Opp were initially set to arrive on May 12, the same day as Soulja’s Soulja Season.

Durkio ultimately ended up pushing his release date back to May 26, and while YoungBoy did drop off his project as scheduled, he took a moment to commemorate the “Crank That” hitmaker for his contribution to music and said he couldn’t wait to shake his hand.

“That’s a fact,” YoungBoy tweeted in response to Soulja Boy’s Instagram Live rant in which he said neither Durkio or the Top rapper could ever make a “Crank That.” “I swear it’s gone be nice to meet you too.”

“N-gga this ain’t no meet and greet,” Soulja Boy retorted.
