Snoop Dogg’s newly released sports comedy film seems to have gone over extremely well with Boosie Badazz, who took to social media to share his review.
On Tuesday (January 23), the Baton Rouge rapper attended a premiere of The Underdoggs, which stars Tha Doggfather, Andrew Schulz, Mike Epps and George Lopez. Before the screening was over, he took to Twitter to share his thoughts about it.
“Bra I’m at this MOVIE PREMIERE ‘UNDERDOGS’ THIS movie Funny [smiling emoji] THIS N-GGA @TheRealMikeEpps GOT ME CRYING LAUGHING [laughing emoji] MY BOY FUNNY,” he tweeted about it.
The “Ungrateful” MC later added: “THIS ONE OF @TheRealMikeEpps Funniest Movies.”
Boosie Badazz isn’t easy to impress when it comes to film and entertainment. Contrary to his above reaction, he has also been vocal about creative works that left a bad taste in his mouth.
A few weeks back, he took his daughters to see The Color Purple, though he ended up leaving the theater before it even finished because “it seemed gay.”
The Louisiana native took to Twitter in early January to explain that he walked out of the theater as he felt the Oprah-produced musical adaption was pushing an agenda that he didn’t want to expose his children to.
“I HAD TO WALK OUT THIS COLOR PURPLE MOVIE ( N TWO OTHER OLDER COUPLES WALKED OUT ALSO.),” he wrote. “BECAUSE I HAD MY LITTLE GIRLS WITH ME N IT SEEMED LIKE A [GAY] LOVE STORY.”
He continued: “GOOD ACTING BUT WHOEVER WROTE THE SCRIPT IS PUSHING THE NARRATIVE HARD AS A PARENT I WILL NOT LET MY LITTLE GIRL WATCH THIS FILM.”
Fans had plenty to say about the confession and called him out for being homophobic.
“But I’d be ok if you were in the mix of the two ladies? You’ve done way worse and said even more disrespectful things in your music than what that movie included,” one person replied. “It’s 2024, find some common sense.”
Another said: “U clearly never seen the first one either, AND u got a gay daughter. This tweet all over the place!”
It should be noted that Boosie’s daughter, Poison Ivi, previously came out as a lesbian. The rapper has said he doesn’t accept her sexual identity, but still loves her.
Says the guy who’s stuff bi litches
Whether like or dislike Snoop Dogg, he is a pop culture icon with an international platform. So when he gets the opportunity to star in a well promoted Amazon movie and fills it with the Nword it’s disappointing.
His character Two-Js could have been played just as effectively without Snoop filling the word movie with the nword over and over. The use of the nword throughout this movie was very unnecessary.
This happens because many black people claim a license to use the word – with the belief that we reclaimed it from white people because white people enslaved us- however we never owned the nword so we can’t “reclaim” something that we never owned in the first place – the nword belongs to white supremacy and always has – the n-word never magically changed hands from white supremacy to black ownership – so we’re out here looking like complete idiots using this word to public refer to ourselves in music, TV and movies
Whenever Snoop does anything in the public spotlight (like or not) he is a representative of the Black community. To have something like this, in such a public spotlight coming from a 52 year old grown man, who has traveled the world and had exposure to many things is very disappointing. I don’t care who disagrees, continue to put “nword” laden material like this out in the public space does hurt “the culture”
