Snoop Dogg Introduces New Death Row Signee To Fan Approval: ‘This Goes Hard’

Snoop Dogg has expanded his Death Row Records roster with a new signing, and it’s already going down well with fans.

Tha Doggfather, who became the owner of the legendary rap label to which he was previously signed in 2022, introduced Charlie Bereal as his latest recruit on Wednesday (July 24).

In a joint Instagram post, Snoop and Death Row wrote: “Introducing the newest artist on Death Row Records… Pasadena’s Finest: Charlie Bereal. @charliebereal.”

The post included a video teaser of Bereal’s debut single on the label, “Never Gonna Take Away My Love,” ahead of its release on Friday (July 26).

Heavily inspired by 1970s soul, the slow jam showcases the California crooner’s sweet singing voice and tender songwriting.

“You were there when no one / Cared to come around / You were the only one who / Can change my frown / Into a smile,” he sings.

Snoop Dogg’s Instagram announcement was met with widespread praise from fans, with one commenting: “This is great for the culture! Charlie Bereal and Snoop both have an appreciation for 70’s RnB music! The vibe is apparent!! [fire emojis].”

Another impressed listener wrote: “Ooooooooo Death Row got another one!” while someone else said: “gawd damn this goes hard.”

Former Death Row affiliate The D.O.C. and R&B star Mario Winans also gave their stamp of approval, writing: “Dope” and “YEAAAAAAAAAA BRO!!!!!!!” respectively.

Charlie Bereal (pronounced “Burrell”) joins a revamped Death Row roster that also includes D Smoke, Jane Handcock and Snoop Dogg himself.

Fellow singer October London, who recently appeared on Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge‘s NxWorries album Why Lawd? and who Busta Rhymes compared to Marvin Gaye, also calls the label home.

Despite the influx of fresh blood, Uncle Snoop has also welcomed two original acts back to Death Row in recent months.

In April, he re-signed singer Danny Boy following his stint on the label during its heyday in the 1990s. The Chicago native is best known for working with 2Pac on classic songs like “I Ain’t Mad at Cha,” “Picture Me Rollin’” and “Heaven Ain’t Hard 2 Find.”

The following month, Death Row released Tha Dogg Pound‘s latest album W.A.W.G. (We All We Got), which boasts appearances from Snoop Dogg, The Lady of Rage, DaBaby, Blxst, RBX and others.

    1. Death row records will be another snoop label failure. He’s had what, three other labels he jump started? All fail because he doesn’t have a grasp on what people want to hear anymore. Just keeps trying to rehash his old hits, but with much worse production, less originality, and less skills on the mic.

      1. You bitch ass hater get off Marion “SUGARNDACELL” KNIGHTS dicc it’s got shit on it you probably one of his gremlins still hoping Mrs. SUGARNDACELL gonna be back as the CEO yeah right you got a better chance of finding Hoffa he had his opportunity & he very stupidly borderline mental retardation brain damaged fucced it up fumbled the ball at the goal line L7 LAME. So get on with your pathetic 🍆 riding life and let Snoop run it into the future progression as it grows positively upwards as he will do he owns it now & that’s that so beat it chump trubiatch

      2. Wtf are you going on about? OG death row pumped out classics and turned multiple artists into generational household names. Where the fuck did I praise Suge Knight? Or even praise death row to begin with? Snoop can do whatever he wants, but the truth with Snoop is that for ever B grade album he’s dropped, he has 3 albums that are throw aways that nobody will ever remember. Dude has 20+ albums, and only one is clever called a classic.

    2. Snoop should definitely think about signing me on for production! Worked with Danny boy, produced for Do or Die, Twista, Crucial Conflict, Kelly, Shawna ect….
