Snoop Dogg has long been one of the most iconic Los Angeles Laker fans and his hoop opinions typically make waves throughout the NBA season.
While he’s shown a ton of love to LeBron James in the past, the Death Row legend pumped the brakes on Bron’s Laker legacy when it comes to him being a Top 5 player to don the purple and gold.
Last week, Snoop joined The Pivot Podcast where he named his Top 5 Lakers ever and King James was noticeably absent from his list.
“Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — formerly known as Lou Alcindor until Malcolm got ahold of ’em. Magic ‘Earvin’ Johnson out of East Lansing. Do you understand me? Kobe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant. Oh lord, it’s finna get hard. Shaquille ‘The Real Deal’ O’Neal.”
Tha Doggfather then wiped away LeBron and Anthony Davis as possibilities for the fifth spot: “It ain’t none of them new guys. They ain’t done enough.”
After rattling off several Laker legends like Jerry West, Michael Cooper and James Worthy, Snoop settled on Wilt Chamberlain. “I’ma go with Wilt The Stilt! He averaged 50 points a game, man,” Snoop declared. “This before cameras — he probably had 70.”
LeBron James has more work to do in a Lakers jersey for Snoop to consider him in the Top 5, and he’ll look to deliver a second title to Los Angeles next season after the Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals this year.
Although, LeBron is reportedly mulling retirement at 38 years old as he heads into a 21st season. He’s still on the Lakers’ books for $53million next season, which would be his sixth in Los Angeles.
While there have been times Snoop has taken his frustration out on Lakers like Anthony Davis or Troy Brown Jr. in the past, the Long Beach rap legend seems to be okay with how the season turned out after starting 2-10 and landing in the Western Conference Finals.
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg recently revealed that he almost joined the U.S. Air Force before he pursued music.
For Memorial Day on Monday (May 29), the West Coast rap legend took to Instagram to pay tribute to all the troops, while explaining how he had planned to sign up to the military when he was a teen — before backing out at the last second.
Lebron is a good player but I’ve always considered him to be overrated as fuck. The MJ/Lebron debate as who’s the goat never made any sense to me since the rightful heir of Jordan as far as the skills, the style and the performance has always been Kobe to me. End of the story.
Maybe kobe is closer to Jordan in terms of they’re games being similar and they way they move and shoot etc. But Kobe tried to be Mj, Kobe tried to walk like em, talk like em, chew his gum like em, Kobe couldn’t find his own identity. Lebron is a better overall player than both Mj and Kobe. Kobe is not even in the discussion. Kobe won 1 mvp in 20 years and wasn’t even the best player on his team his first 3 chips.
So a guy that is the all time leading scorer, has more rebounds, assist, regular season mvp’s, finals mvp’s all nba team’s than Kobe in the same amount of time or even in a shorter period of time than Kobe is overrated???
I honestly don’t it’s important for LBJ to be considered a top 5 laker he joined them in his 16th year . Most or a lot of people already see him as the best ever.
Was always going to be tuff for James to be consider a top 5 laker he got to L.A late in his career.
Still got them a title tho. But if we had a draft based on all time in their prime I would take James over any other Laker all time.
I agree with Snoop maybe not a top 5 laker but I got Bron. MJ and Kareem as the best ever
Bron is a all time great but also a poser. Who tries to copyright taco Tuesday? Wtf you doin? Shoulda never left Miami
Magic, Kareem , Shaq, Kobe, Jerry West. Not fair to argue lebron considering what stage of his career he went there. I do think that lebron and AD deserve a lot of respect for winning a championship they first year together. I do feel lebron is the best player ever and AD still has the potential and time to enter top PF ever conversation like top 5
King James is the goat!!!!
Maybe not a top 5 all time Laker but definitely top 5 all time period. After breaking that scoring record maybe even 1
