Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre: Major ‘Missionary’ Album Update Revealed By Tha Dogg Pound

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre‘s new album Missionary is coming sooner than fans may think, according to Tha Dogg Pound.

Fresh off the release of their own new project W.A.W.G. (We All We Got), Daz Dillinger and Kurupt appeared on Drink Champs this past weekend where they spoke about the highly-anticipated Missionary, which will see Dre produce an entire Snoop album for the first time in over 30 years.

The West Coast duo appeared to accidentally reveal that the album will drop in July when talking about their history with the two rap legends.

“[Snoop] Dogg sacrificed ’cause he got an album dropping in July. This album with Dr. Dre dropping in July,” he said.

Daz then added: “He got an album coming out next month with Dr. Dre.”

The pair then claimed that the album would be a joint release between the now Snoop-owned Death Row Records, Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.

Snoop Dogg previously gave an update about the progress of Missionary earlier this year.

“I’m in the lab with Dr. Dre right now. That’s Death Row/Aftermath. We finishing that up right now, tidying up the pieces to that. He’s a perfectionist,” he said on former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’ All the Smoke podcast.

Revealing the origins of the project, Tha Doggfather said: “The n-gga called me one day about two years ago. He was like, ‘N-gga, come over, let me do a couple of songs with you.’

“I go over there and he like, ‘N-gga, let me do your album.’ And I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s go!’ We go in, knock out a couple of songs. He hit me back: ‘I need two more days.’ I got that call probably about 85 times. This n-gga need two more days all the time.

“But when you hear what we have and how he got me rapping, it’s like a grown Snoop Dogg. There’s some growth to him. It’s the way he selects his bars, it’s the way he uses his voice. [Dr. Dre] uses me like a fucking robot and I love it because I love to be produced. I love to be challenged.”

Snoop went on to call the material they’ve recorded for the album “masterful” and praised Dre for using his voice “like an instrument.”

He also previously indicated that Missionary will serve as the spiritual successor to his 1993 debut Doggystyle.

    1. Can’t say I even expect it to be great at this point. Dres last real piece of work, Compton, was not very good. No songs lasted the test of time. Only the hiphop heads even knew of its existence. Production was mostly not so good and cluttered. Beats like “talking to my diary” were sick, but that song felt like it was cut extremely short.

      1. I see where you are going with your observations, I will say that the “Compton” album did have a stellar sound (Mixing and Mastering Sonics) and I think Dre has heavily moved to that space of showcasing. I will agree, the songs on there were a bit forced and incoherent at times with the exception of a few, but overall sounded great sonically, but had little standout cuts. I think Dre is his worst critic and worst enemy when it comes to his music, so he either over thinks it OR, doubts himself and never releases the great music that he has in his vaults.

      2. That’s your opinion. Why do people always think their opinions are facts nowadays? Compton was a tight album to me. Now what? Who’s right and who’s wrong? I’m right because I said “to me.” People need to learn how to say “In my opinion” or “I believe.”

      3. @listener A no shit lol. Do I have to really insert “this album doesn’t sound good… but OH, that’s just me, we all have different tastes!”. No. When I say I don’t like something, I don’t have to insert a disclaimer. You act like me saying an album sucks means I think you and everyone else have to hate it too. Go ahead. Like the album. Nobody will stop you.

      4. All the best things about that “Compton” album were appearing of Anderson .Paak on six tracks.
“Animals” produced by DJ Premier was a clear standout.

    2. I can guarantee all of you 2 things with absolute certainty. 1) If the entire non-credible, fraudulent, corny, cringy, pathetic, laughable, embarrassing, wannabe, pretending, garbage, gay, retarded DuncecapD/X shit staff all drank a gallon of Clorox that not 1 single 1 of these cornballs would be missed and 2) a highly over-rated af Gay ass Dre album ain’t coming out in July of 2024 or July of 2044. As the great Tobin Frost would say CARRY THE HELL ON!

    3. Yall got too much going on. Light up a fat one, press play, and lets your ears ring. I’m waiting for the album and so are the subs in my car. Everything else can fuck off

    4. Such a stupid name. “OH haha, cuz it’s like, a sex move!”. Well yeah, but Doggystyle made sense because it was a play on Snoop Doggy Doggs entire persona he was trying to sell… missionary… is just a sexual act.
