When a fan joked: “you can’t be doing this to us man,” Q replied: “He spoke about it on His BIG BOY INTERVIEW.. it’s crazy on lord.”

Vince Staples gave an update on his new album earlier this month, telling Big Boy it’s “close” to being finished and that it would be released before he tours Europe in June.

“I’m working, I’m close. I’m trying to put something out,” he said. “I got Europe in June, so I’m going to try to put something out before I go out there.”

The Long Beach native is just as much of a fan of Blue Lips as ScHoolboy Q is of his own album, calling it his “best” project.

“To be honest, bar for bar, he raps better,” he said. “If you talking about technical skill, he’s better than me rapping. I’m really good, though. What I’m saying is, I’m nasty, I’m one of the best, clearly, to ever do it.

“But what I’m saying is, your pen, even the way the speak now, I can’t even speak like you.”

Speaking to HotNewHipHop in 2022, Vince Staples shed light on his relationship with ScHoolboy Q and explained how the “Collard Greens” hitmaker often lends an ear to his work.

“Q will tell you if he likes something, if he didn’t like something,” he said. “He’s not very wordy so he’s like, ‘It’s cool.’ He liked it. So, that’s always a good thing to hear.

“I go to Q kind of to hear what he doesn’t like more than what he does and he didn’t seem to have many complaints so I was happy about that.”
