School Teacher Dresses Up As Kanye West In Blackface

A teacher at Chestnut Grove Elementary School in Decatur, Alabama has apologized after a picture of him in blackface went viral.

WREG Memphis reports that the teacher, Heath Morrow stated that he had an “error in judgement” when he chose to dress up as rapper Kanye West in blackface.

The picture that went viral features both Morrow and his wife. Morrow is seen in blackface wearing shutter shades while holding a sign that reads, “Kanye for Prez 2020.”

According to Raw Story, Morrow’s wife, who is assumed to be dressed up as Kim Kardashian in the photo, posted the picture on Facebook, and left the following comment: “Haha some people thought Heath was really a black man.”

In his apology letter, Morrow explained that he has “never seen color” in his life, and instead sees people “for who they are.”

“My intentions were not malicious or directed toward any certain group of people,” Morrow wrote in his letter, according to WREG. “I would also like to say that everyone who knows my character and knows my heart, knows that I have never seen color in my life. I wasn’t raised or taught that way and do not raise my children that way. I see people for who they are, and my wife and I go out of our way to help anyone we can in my profession as an educator.”

A similar incident happened several weeks ago at a fraternity party at UCLA. During the “Kanye Western” party, members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Alpha Phi sorority dressed up in blackface by smudging black makeup on their faces.

The university is reportedly investigating the matter.

    1. I don’t understand how people still try to get away with dressing in blackface. Hope it was worth his job

    2. The people who are saying that no one cares or that he should NOT apologize clearly do not know the history of MINSTREL SHOWS in America….that is when white people put on make-up and pretended to be Black Americans. They depicted the worst stereotypes AND lies about Black Americans to perpetuate racist ideologies…he may not know that history, but now he has been enlightened.

      1. Everybody give this person a gold star!!!!!! The rest of you failed miserably with your ignorant, uneducated, baseless comments.

    3. Americans are brainwashed. you cant paint your face black ??? what the fucks wrong with yall. Where im from nobody would give a fuck about this (blacks included).

    4. The fact that people don’t see a problem with this is a big problem. Look up the history of Black Face and then come back and comment. You young idiots need to learn your damn history. You’re the reason why we continue getting clowned. You let people get away with too much sh*t

    5. So this guy can’t paint his face black but Snoop can paint his whole body white and act like a White guy. Black People are hypocrites. The white and black people in America deserve everything thats happening between them. Whos more racist? Its hard to tell!!!

    6. This is an honest question. Do black Americans really find this offensive? I’m not asking the people who find everything racist.. We know how you feel, and please feel free to express it. I’m wondering about the regular people. I’m asking because I’m not sure how I should feel. It’s not really funny. It’s in poor taste I guess. I don’t think he trying to hurt anyone. But its sad if we can’t joke around with each other.. That’s what keeps us divided as colors instead of united as people
