Scarface Is Running For Houston City Council

As the Hip Hop community continues to mourn the passing of Bushwick Bill, the late rapper’s Geto Boys bandmate Scarface is shifting the group’s legacy into politics in their hometown of Houston.

Scarface, 48, revealed via Instagram on Saturday (June 8) that he will run his first campaign  pushing for a seat in District D of Houston’s sixteen-member City Council.

“It’s official. I’m offering myself for service as the next Houston city council member for District D. Join our movement,” Scarface said in the caption.

The campaign flyer lists his government name Brad Jordan, his campaign website and slogan that reads “Of the people, for the people.”

This announcement happened two days after Face asked his 245,000 followers if he should run for the position.

“Should I run for Houston city council?” he said.

His initial post that proposed his idea to run for office garnered several positive responses among Hip Hop’s and fellow Houston natives including fellow Geto Boys member Willie D, Slim Thug, T.I., Ice-T, Lil Scrappy, Meek Mill, and Big Boi from Outkast.

The Houston city council election takes place on November 5.

    1. You mean Brad Johnson who also goes by the stage name of scarface is ruining for city council, he would make a great city representative.

    2. I know people love to joke, but there are tons of celebrities that have been interested in politics. Scarface’s music is deeply rooted in politics; hood, and government. He has painted pictures about his throughout his entire career. I’m proud to see a fellow hip hopper bravely run for city council. If I were still in Htown, I’d vote for him, hands down.

    3. What Houston needs is a Crip who calls himself “Scarface” holding public office, when he has been arrested before for not paying child support. Great look.

      1. First of all, he’s not a crip. Second if a playwright who depicts the horrors of society and has been arrested before is running for a seat, that wouldn’t be a problem EXCEPT rappers. Because before rap America was a perfect country. Right? 7 out of 10 people running for the British PM have admitted to using hard drugs and they are running for PM. But rappers caused the first and second world wars so…..
