Saigon Prepares EP, While “Greatest Story Never Told” Is Due 2011

With Stat Quo’s Statlanta dropping this summer, Saigon’s The Greatest Story Never Told might be the most delayed album in Hip Hop outside of Dr. Dre’s Detox. Since the New York emcee signed with Atlantic Records and scheduled the album for a 2005 release, a lot has happened. Sai has quit the Rap game via MySpace, he’s released a handful of other albums – including one made in 24 hours, shifted labels, and had a child.

Now free of Atlantic Records, Saigon has told his fans on Facebook that “the Full Length LP is coming February but I cant make my Nation wait that long..” What he was referring to with not wanting his fans to wait is that he had previously announced that he would be releasing an EP next week.

“New EP coming NEXT WEEK ‘The Yardfather’s Prologue’ is the tentative title…. I need a title for my new EP so if U think U have a dope title… Send it in.. This is all ner music.. LETS GO Saigon NATION..”

Just yesterday, HipHopDX published a story with frequent Saigon collaborator Statik Selektah. He told DX, “It’s funny, Saigon called me like 10 minutes ago talking about his new deal. I don’t know if I’m even supposed to talk about it, but the [The Greatest Story Never Told] album [he did] with Just Blaze is coming out. I’m not about to say on what label or when, but it’s coming out like soon.”

The Greatest Story Never Told is slated to come out on Suburban Noize Records and will feature production from Just Blaze. Previously, Suburban, owned by Kottonmouth Kings’ Brad Daddy X, has released projects from La Coka Nostra, X-Clan’s Brother J and Potluck. (October 22)

UPDATE: Complex.com heard an exclusive listening of Saigon’s The Greatest Story Never Told. They breakdown the album’s production from Just Blaze, Buckwild and others. The Jay-Z feature from the album’s Atlantic Records years reportedly will remain.

The sequencing of the songs are yet to be finalized. (November 7)

    UPDATE #2:

Along with Executive Producer Just Blaze producing on the album, as well as the aforementioned Buckwild, Saigon’s long awaited LP will also feature production from Kanye West and Red Spyda. Guests include a pair of legends in Q-Tip and Bun B, as well as Marsha Ambrosius and Faith Evans. As reported, his Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz collaboration from 2007 will appear. “C’mon Baby RMX” leaked nearly exactly three years ago today.

    1. Greatest Story Never Told 2011 lol. are you sure that isnt just the release date for warning shots 3? saigon dropping lmao

      1. You can stop that lame joke now. The man really is putting his album out. .In case you didn’t read, Feberuary 2011 is when it’s coming. He’s an independent artist now. So nothing will stop the release of the album.

    2. Is gonna be the real original album? I don’t know if people wanna hear an album which is probably 7 or 8 years old???

    3. omfg best news ive got all year been waiting on this album hope he drops it on feb the 4th as thts my 18th birthday and it would be the best present

    4. Nice. This album is long overdue. Best believe I’m gonna support saigon. Keep it up bro, be looking for that ep droppin this week!

    5. WHAT THE FUCK???SHYHEIM ALLREADY DID A ALBUM WITH THAT TITLE IN 2003 OR 04 AND I BET ITS BETTER THEN SAIGONS.BE ORIGINAL MAN ITS TAKED ALLREADY!!

      1. Saigon had that album title first, for years. Even before Shyheme. As a matter of fact, Saigon addressed that some years back. But it doesn’t matter, because plenty of artist have had the same or similar album titles. It’s not a problem. Apparenly, you haven’t done your research. But that’s ok, you’ll learn. Anyway, good to see the album is finally coming. Some people may say nobody cares anymore. But that isn’t true. Plenty of people are still waiting for the album. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe Saigon wasn’t meant to be on a major label and come out on Atlantic records. As the saying goes, better late than never at all.

    6. This is a REAL good look for Subnoize. Reguardless of Saigons fuckups or whatever SNR is bout to drop an album that people have wanted. It’s a real good look for a underground label like them. As said in the article LCN, Potluck, XClan and more. Saigons bout to drop. The one I’m waitin for tho is Slaine…Bout to be yet another good year for Suburban Noize.

    7. HONESTLY, WHO CARES, I AM A HIP HOP FAN BUT SAIGON WASNT THAT “HOT” TO TAKE TIME OFF, EVEN MASE WENT TRIPLE PLAT BEFORE HE QUIT! HOW U GONNA QUIT WITH NO REAL LP?? JUST MIXTAPES?? NIGGAS NEED MORE CONFIDENCE THESE DAYS
