Russell Poole, the detective who handled the murder case for the late Notorious B.I.G. for a year, has died, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The publication reports that Poole was working on another cold case, and was meeting with detectives when he collapsed following a suspected heart attack. He later died at a local hospital.
“Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies at the Homicide Bureau reported that Russell Poole collapsed Wednesday morning, according to a sheriff’s department official. He was meeting with detectives about a cold case when he collapsed and was unresponsive. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he died, the coroner’s office said,” the Los Angeles Times reports.
Poole has provided theories on the deaths of both Tupac Shakur and Biggie.
The former LAPD detective was also responsible for penning “LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records’ Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal,” a book which was released in 2003.
“The Russell Poole Theory,” Poole’s theory which suggested that the former head of Death Row security and Suge Knight’s ex-wife put a hit on Shakur and Knight, was recently featured in Vice’s “A Former LAPD Detective Thinks He Knows Who Killed Tupac” feature story.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Poole suspected that Biggie’s death was retaliation for Shakur’s death.

Poole was probably murdered by LAPD to shut him up. He found evidence that corrupt cops killed Biggie…Mack and Muhammad. LAPD covered it up…Poole got caught in the crossfire! Greg Kading comes along and takes the investigation in a different direction…away from corrupt LAPD cops.
