Russ has seemingly called out Travis Scott for allegedly copying him with the rollout for his new album Utopia.
The “What They Want” rapper took to Twitter on Sunday (July 9) to issue a sly response aimed at Scott over his plan to perform at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

“Trendsetter…pyramids, $12 vinyl..we see it [wine glasses toasting emoji],” Russ wrote.
Plenty of fans were on Russ’ side, with one saying: “nah bc I really said russ did it FIRST,” while another added: “i peeped! you fs the first person i heard of performing there.”
Russ’ tweet came shortly after Travis Scott announced that Utopia will be debuted during a concert at the ancient Egyptian pyramids on July 28.
“Utopia is wherever you are,” a poster for the event, which will be live streamed for fans at home, read on the rapper’s Instagram page.

Russ previously performed at the historic site in October 2022, becoming the “first solo rapper” to do so. He retweeted a video of the concert on Sunday, seemingly to remind those with short memories.
As for the “$12 vinyl,” Russ is currently selling vinyl copies of his upcoming album Santiago for $12, while Utopia CDs are available to pre-order for the exact same price on Travis Scott’s website.
The 30-year-old additionally called cap on a tweet that claimed Travis Scott “will be the first rapper to perform at a wonder of the world,” urging the account to get their facts straight.
“[Blue cap emoji] do your research,” Russ wrote in response to the since-deleted tweet.
Furthermore, Russ announced on Monday (July 10) that he’s throwing a listening party for Santiago in the California desert next month, which isn’t too dissimilar to Travis’ pyramids album premiere — although it’s likely he began planning it months ago.
“THE JOURNEY BEGINS….,” he wrote on Twitter. “This is the first of 3 SANTIAGO events. The golden ticket emails will start going out to the winners this week. 100 fans only.”
He added: “If you don’t get picked for this event, don’t worry because there is 2 other events as well. You had to have bought a vinyl or digital album to get a chance at getting invited SEE YOU SOON.”
Meanwhile, Travis Scott has been busy gearing up for the long-awaited release of Utopia. Billboards promoting the album have been popping up across the U.S. lately, along with a brown Utopia briefcase that La Flame has carried to most public outings.
While his Pyramids of Giza concert goes down on July 28, an official release date for Utopia has yet to be announced.

Travis spoke about the project during an interview with PIN-UP Magazine in May, offering insight into how the album was made and the meaning behind its title.
“I made most of my new album on an MPC,” he explained. “I got new ones; I got some old ones. My favorite is the 2000XL. It produces a very distinctive sound that makes it feel alive.”

He added: “With every album I live in these worlds in my mind — I’m trying to show people experiences where utopian things can exist, and you can enjoy yourself and have a good time. They can create energy that spews out magical things — new cures, new buildings, new avenues for people to move forward. People need to see that utopia is real.”
