Russ has once again reminded his critics that he was the first rapper to perform at the pyramids; not Travis Scott, and recently accosted XXL for also having to remind the publication.
The Zoo rapper took to Twitter on Wednesday (June 12) to re-share a corrected article that XXL had penned, in which it shared viral footage from Russ’s performance at Egypt’s Pyramids back in 2022.
However, he said he had to remind XXL that his fans never forgot who did it first and said he even wrote to the publication to correct it after writers allegedly claimed Travis Scott’s upcoming Utopia show at the Pyramids would be the first time a rapper had achieved such a feat.
“Nah I didn’t remind fans, mine knew,” Russ wrote. “A rap media page (most likely run by a white kid who says the n word who swears he’s misunderstood and just needs to rage) said that he was the first to perform at the pyramids..I reminded that page Thanks for the skewed narrative and excellent journalism per usual tho XXL.”
Russ had previously accused Travis Scott of copying him after the latter announced that Utopia would be debuted during a concert at the ancient Egyptian pyramids on July 28.
“Utopia is wherever you are,” a poster for the event, which will be live streamed for fans at home, read on the rapper’s Instagram page.
“Trendsetter…pyramids, $12 vinyl..we see it [wine glasses toasting emoji],” Russ wrote.
Plenty of fans were on Russ’ side, with one saying: “nah bc I really said russ did it FIRST,” while another added: “i peeped! you fs the first person i heard of performing there.”
The Houston rapper has recently been ramping up the promo for his upcoming project, which will mark his first full-length release in five years following 2018’s Astroworld and the Astroworld Festival tragedy in 2021.
Pre-orders for Utopia have also been made available via Travis Scott’s website, although an official release date has yet to be announced.
The eagerly-anticipated album comes in various bundles that include T-shirts, hoodies and hats. There are also five different cover art variants which have yet to be revealed.
Travis Scott spoke about Utopia during an interview with PIN-UP Magazine in May, offering insight into how the album was made and the meaning behind its title.
“I made most of my new album on an MPC,” he explained. “I got new ones; I got some old ones. My favorite is the 2000XL. It produces a very distinctive sound that makes it feel alive.”
As for Russ, he recently dropped off his Chomp 2.5 EP, which served as a teaser for his forthcoming album Santiago, which he recently revealed will premiere at an undisclosed location in the California desert on August 1.
Russ 100% used to say the n word. Def rapping it in his car alone for sure
Man just SFTU.
STFU!!
I live in a bad neighborhood. Folks round here don’t care if white people say Ni**er because everyone is a Ni**er that’s just trying to keep the lights on.
Regular Folks have way bigger things to stress about.
Somebody please remind Russ that once a word gets “bleached” you cant make it dark again. The reason Russ has a career is because of white teenagers who rejected race baiting and victim mentality culture.
Rappers don’t like white people. Don’t support them
Travis Scott does bite off everyone Asap Rocky, Migos, Russ apparantly. Why can’t rappers be original like they used to do?
Russ is white and probably says the n word so wtf is he on? Cornball king
