Royce Da 5’9″ has revealed his lingering annoyance at Kanye West and Big Sean for once upstaging Slaughterhouse.

Slaughterhouse performed at SXSW in 2012 as part of S.O.B.’s 30th anniversary party, closing out a night that also saw sets from Sean, 2 Chainz and Machine Gun Kelly.

During his turn on stage, Sean Don made use of his G.O.O.D. Music connections to bring out Ye, who tore the house down with a performance of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.”

Royce Da 5’9″ recently reunited with Joe Budden on his podcast and jokingly admitted he’s “still mad” at the duo for dampening Slaughterhouse’s hype before they hit the stage.

“I’m still mad at [Kanye West] about that. I’m mad at Big Sean too,” Royce said after being reminded of the night by Budden. “He’s the one who brought him out. He was on stage. He fucking showed me, I’ll tell you that.”

Budden also shared his trauma from that show, admitting he “still has nightmares” about it.

“Big Sean was up at SXSW, Slaughterhouse was closing — why?!” he questioned in hindsight. “Man, we back there doing our little Slaughterhouse chant. ‘All hands in the middle! Slaughterhouse on three! One, two, three!’

“Then from the stage [we heard], ‘La, la, la, la wait ’til I get my money right.’ Everybody’s like, ‘Ahhh!’ I said, ‘Give me my hand! I ain’t fucking with y’all! Y’all crazy as hell!'”

Budden added: “By the time we went up there, it ain’t look like the same crowd. I was tight.”

Royce, meanwhile, compared the situation to “going into a restaurant around a bunch of full people. People who just all ate tomahawk steaks. They were like, ‘Yeah, we don’t want any more food.'”

Sean previously described Nickel Nine as a “rap god, just like Eminem” and even picked him over Slim Shady due to their history together.

“Royce Da 5’9 is a literal big brother, so I gotta go with Royce,” he said on Drink Champs in 2021. “Eminem is, like I said, God MC and a dream come true to work with, but I’ve been in the trenches with Royce for real.”
