The role of Tupac in All Eyez On Me is played by Demetrius Shipp, Jr., according to reports from TMZ and Instagram posts from the film’s set.
The celebrity news site says that Shipp’s father worked in the music industry and met Tupac when the actor was a child.
Producer L.T. Hutton asked Shipp to take the part in the Morgan Creek film because of similarity in appearance to the West Coast Rap legend. Shipp took acting classes four times a week to prepare for the role.
Actor Hill Harper also wrote about Shipp getting the role on Instagram.
“‘A coward dies a 1,000.deaths, a soldier…'” he writes in a photo collage. “Shooting #alleyezonme My brotha from anotha @dshippjraeome throwin’ it down as #Pac!!! #rideordie#meagainsttheworld #brendasgotababy #rosefromconcrete #ifidietonight#tupacmovie.”
Shipp and producer L.T. Hutton reposted the image.
All Eyez On Me is directed by Benny Boom.
Tupac was portrayed by Marcc Rose in this summer’s N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton.

This guy looks wack as Tupac. That Marcc Rose kid seems way better as Pac to me. More believable.
I thought that cat from straight out of Compton was supposed to be in this. Thought he looked a a bit funny. Well see how this turns out
The Dude from straight outta compton was going to play him, but he walked off the Project with John Singleton.
It’s Jamal Woolard not Woodward -_-
I thinks this is goIng to be interesting. If he can capture the manerisms of pac . he can pull this off.
Should have got the dude from Straight Outta Compton. This movie will be shit just like Notorious was.
The Dude from straight outta compton was going to play him, but he walked off the Project with John Singleton.
Exactly! Really wish that they would put the same effort into this as they did with “Straight Outta Compton”
I’m not sure why he wasn’t chosen, I had read rumors that he was. I’ve just found out that although he resembles tupac he couldn’t rap and a voice over actor played the voice we all hear.
It’s more than image. You really have to nail Pacs charisma and personality to make it work.
using Gravy to play a Biggie after that shit-show that was the Notorious movie ……All Eyes On Me is pretty over-rated album imo its got lot of classic bangers on there but its got a load of filler tracks Pac just rushed out to get the album released quick after being in jail
Filler wtf all eyes on me had nothing but classics joints. What songs are filler sound like some bs to me. All eyes is a masterpiece every song is dope no garbage tracks.
Lyrically, I agree. Biggie’s storytelling was second to none! LAD is one of my favorite albums of all time. Pac on the other hand, had more passion, more conviction, almost a sense of urgency in his voice that, still to this day, goes unmatched by any rapper out there! One
You are an idiot mate. Please do not waste our blessed time on this earth reading your pointless and extremely stupid comments.
Thank you and Merry Christmas
What are you talking about? The only “Filler” tracks you speak of were only a small few like “Thug Passion” “Heaven Ain’t Hard 2 Find” & “What’s Ya Phone Number”… So yeah 3 out of what? 27 or something tracks? Pretty fucking great
The numbers don’t lie, there is a reason why All Eyez on Me is one of the best hip-hop albums that will ever be created
Yes, I agree with you. As that at that time nobody was doing double discs and his was fucking amazing. I wasn’t a toddler when that was released so I know what I’m saying.
Best of luck to the dude playing pac…has big shoes to fill
ALWAYS GOING TO BE ABOUT .THE LEGENDARY MAKAVELI.THE DON
ALL EYES ON HIM.FCK BIGGIE.
For everyone worried this movie will be shit, no need to worry because John singleton is still going to make his movie.
“The reason I am not making this picture is because the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur,” wrote Singleton, who directed Shakur in Poetic Justice.
He also addressed “‘Pac’s real fans” and said that he was still planning on making a movie about the rapper. “It doesn’t matter what they do, mine will be better”
Was a little confused and conflicted for a minute but I’m back and realize I want to be straight
Different skin complexion, different coarse of facial hair, different noses, different eyes….. how exactly do they look alike?
You think they can find a twin? Smh
They look surprisingly close, obviously their are slight differences but compared to the look alikes from notorious and straight outa compton it’s pretty good
Who else thinks Jada Pinkett Smith should be playing the role of Afeni?
Ctfu u should wanna be yourself intead of a fucking parasite
Someone had to play pac, might as well be someone that looks like him
Marcc rose should’ve acted as tupac because he did a great job in straight outta compton
That was quite a small role though. He may have had difficulties a full film.
