Rick Rock has revealed he was the victim of a car burglary that resulted in the loss of instruments and other music tools he used.
The prolific producer, known for his work with the likes of 2Pac, JAY-Z, Busta Rhymes, and Will Smith to name just a few, took to Instagram on Friday (April 14) to share a video of his smashed back window while recounting what happened.

“CAN’T BE MAD AT NOBODY BUT MYSELF!! I KNOW BETTER …DEY GOT ME!! … BIPPED!! MILDEW!!” Rick Rock captioned his post.
As unfortunate of an incident as it was, there was a slight sliver lining. “GOOD NEWS THEY LEFT MY MPC,” he told fans.
Originally from Alabama, Rick Rock has worked with a slew of big artists, and was a founding member of the groups Cosmic Slop Shop and the Federation — the latter of which is regarded as one of the pioneers of the Hyphy movement.
It was 1996 when the producer was introduced to Bay Area legend E-40 that his career took off. Later on, he produced two tracks featured on E-40’s Tha Hall of Game, including the diss track “Record Haters,” aimed at New York rapper AZ and basketball player Rasheed Wallace.

As a result, Rick was introduced to 2Pac by E-40, and he worked on his fourth album — and final album released during his lifetime — All Eyez on Me. Together with Vallejo Producer Mike Mosley, he produced two tracks: “Tradin War Stories” and “Ain’t Hard to Find.”
During a 2019 interview with Underground Society, the producer opened up about his experience working with ‘Pac in the studio.
In the interview, Rock discussed being present during the recording process of ‘Pac’s controversial diss track “Hit ‘Em Up,” and the “Ain’t Hard 2 Find” studio session that involved E-40, B-Legit, C-Bo, Richie Rich and D-Shot.
“I was with Mike Mosley and we all caravanned from the Bay. It was me, Mike Mosely, C-Bo, and Richie Rich to get with Pac. We went to Death Row studios and he is playing us the album. Right after that, he said, ‘let’s do a song,’ and he was talking to 40 and C-Bo and all of them. I use to carry SP12 discs with me, 1200 discs, so in the studio, they had a 1200. While they were waiting I just loaded up, I put a disc in, pressed play and Pac said, ‘what’s that?’ and I said, ‘that’s you!’ It was that ‘Tradin’ War Stories’ song, Pac wrote his raps so fast!”

He continued: “I was there when he recorded, ‘Hit ‘Em Up,’ where he was like, ‘I’ll make sure all your kids don’t grow!’ I seen the Outlawz come in and tell them about whoever was saying something – Chino XL or somebody else like, Xzibit saying something. So, they was talking about that so he went in there and recorded it.”
