Retailers Hoping Momentum From Black Friday Sales Will Last Through Holidays

Last week’s Black Friday shopping holiday proved to be quite successful for a variety of retailers with a number of music retailers reporting impressive sales. Billboard.com reports that several record stores have artist and label-aided holiday-exclusive products to thank for their sales.

Music Monitor Network executive director Michael Kurtz revealed to Billboard.com that Black Friday music sales may have been up 20-25 percent compared to last year.

Some of Black Friday’s top sellers included Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday and Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

While most stores reported decent sales some retailers struggled due to the early morning mega-sales of larger retailers.

“The big box stores had everybody getting up at 3 a.m. in the morning to get the big bargains,” a merchant explained to Billboard. “By 1 p.m. on Black Friday, sales started crawling to a halt as everyone was going home because they were exhausted from the early morning shopping sprees.”

Music retailers, both big and small, are hoping the increase in sales due to Black Friday will roll over into the holiday shopping season.

      1. People drink more when there broke, lol

Same with drugs, why you think Crack came so High Profile during reagon-omics in the 80’s. Better to scratch up the few pennies you have and get fucked up so you dont have to remember how broke you really are, lol

    2. You crazy. Its a recession like a mf. The unemployment % is officially 10% but it’s really like 18-22%. That means that at least 75% of the country is living normal as can be. But that 20% is struggling hard like where the next meal coming from. The haves and the have nots like a bitch.
