Remy Ma is not here for the theory that civilians can’t be snitches, and broke down her thought process during a recent visit to The Breakfast Club.
Remy sat down with the popular morning show on Wednesday (March 8), where the current hot topic of snitching came up in conversation. As Gunna fields accusations of the label as well as T.I. and more, host DJ Envy got an earful when he theorized that Remy could have done less time in her seven-year bid that she completed in 2014 if she’d told on someone.
“No the fuck I couldn’t have [told on some people when I got locked up],” she responded. “That’s not even an option!”
When fellow guest Tami Roman suggested there are certain people that may be exempt from being considered a snitch, Remy strongly disagreed.
“I don’t discriminate,” she responded. “There’s no, ‘Oh you’re a civilian.’ If you’re telling on someone, you’re telling. You’re cooperating. That’s just that. And I feel like a lot of times, people be like, ‘Well they’re a civilian!’ If you a civilian, stay hanging with civilians and be around civilians. Don’t be a civilian and hang out with people that are like that. Don’t do it. But then you try to justify what you did because ‘Y’all know I wasn’t really like that!’”
She continued: “And the people that y’all… this is what y’all do and y’all in that line of work, keep these people that’s really not built like that away from you because when the pressure’s on, they gon’ fold. And I blame both parties. You shouldn’t have been hanging with them and you shouldn’t have had them around you. You have to protect yourself. And I tell anybody that because I can’t tell people how to live. You don’t know what their situation is.”
“Some people, they’re in certain situations ‘cause that’s all they know, that’s all they have. Like, you got certain parts of the world where you’re either gonna be in this gang or you’re gonna be in the ground. Which side are you on? That’s just the culture that they’re growing up in, that they’re living in. Alright if that’s what it is, you gotta be smart enough to know that you can’t just have anybody in your circle because there will come a time where they’re gonna be given an option and there’s no loyalty, there’s no codes. Every man is for themselves.”

The latest snitching conversation in Hip Hop arrived just the day before Remy’s interview, with Chicago rapper 600 Breezy saying Quavo will be considered a snitch if he were to take the stand in TakeOff’s forthcoming murder trial, despite the slain Migos rapper being his actual family.
“I doubt one bit that Quavo would get on the stand and say anything that’ll make people say, ‘Oh, Quavo a snitch,’” Breezy said. “For the sake of his career and all that shit? His nephew gone. His nephew dead and gone. Nothing he can do to bring him back.”
He added: “He wouldn’t do that to himself. If Quavo sat there and took the stand to say anything about that situation, he got the snitch jacket on him now.”
While emphasizing that the rules are the rules, Breezy did admit that they’re not always the most sensible ones.

What she’s saying is to clarify what snitching is, she’s not telling people not to snitch, she’s clearing up this misconception that if you’re a so called civilian, unrelated to the crime world, you’re not snitching when in reality the act of telling on someone is called snitching
She is wrong though. Snitching has a negative connotation and should only be used in relation to criminals who do dirt together, period. That’s what it originally referred to before getting mainstreamed by dumb people who wanted to sound cool. People started using it to refer to any time they got caught doing some stupid shit and somebody told on them. That’s the problem, so many people started misusing the terminology. Oh, I cheated on my girl and somebody told on me. They snitched on me. I shot somebody, and they told on me. They snitched on me. Nah, that’s not snitching. That’s your stupid ass got caught.

This is why the music is so terrible. People more worried about this ratchet shit instead of whether these people can actually rap. Take today’s fans back 30 years, and the dumb mofos would have been more worried that Cube went to private school and college or that Pac went to performing arts school as a teenager than whether they could make good music. We all walk a crooked line .. Plenty people say my attempted assault.. I even screamed for help ..once It clicked that it’s all on me to save myself. I had to protect me .And I made sure it was gruesome enough that someone had to tell. People really only tell if it effects them. If I ever see a rape . .
