Remy Ma Claims Credit For Ushering In Era Of Unity Among Female Rappers

Remy Ma has credited her Summer Jam performance in 2017 with helping to ushering in an “era of unity” amongst women in Hip Hop.

The Terror Squad rapper sat down with Hot97 on Saturday (February 17), where she made the proclamation. According to her, she was the one who led the charge to empower female rappers when she invited them up to perform Queen Latifah‘s classic, “U.N.I.T.Y.”

“Catfight every time you turn around,” she said. “I feel like that’s something that, when I first came home and I started recording again, that I really aspired to be a part of and to make happen. I kind of feel like it started when we did Summer Jam that year. It was me, Latifah, Lyte, Cardi, Young M.A., Kim, Monie Love, Yo-Yo. Everybody — Rah Digga — from all the different generations. The past, the present, and the future on the same stage.”

She continued: “From there, I feel like that kind of opened up the doors, Not just for the artists themselves, but for people to see. I feel like people didn’t know they could have this many people that they like at one time. I even see it now even with some of the fans, because it used to be that everyone had their own fanbase. But now you see the fanbases combining.”

The same performance Remy Ma is referencing was notable amongst Nicki Minaj fans, because Remy and Nicki were beefing at the time. The highlight of their back-and-forth might have been the release of “ShETHER,” an almost seven-minute diss track over the instrumental for Nas‘ famous JAY-Z diss track, “Ether.”

However, back in November, Minaj sparked speculation that the beef was over.

The Queens rapper took to her Instagram Stories on November 7 to quote some of Remy’s rhymes while plugging her upcoming album Pink Friday 2.

“Look over your shoulder, I’m in da Rover, it’s OVER b!ch,” she wrote, borrowing Remy’s lyrics from Big Pun‘s 2000 track “Ms. Martin.”

Fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) following Nicki Minaj’s Instagram post to share their shock and excitement at the prospect of Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma being back on good terms.

“WAIT NICKI WAS QUOTING REMY? THEY SQUASHED THEIR BEEF???” one fan wrote, while another said: “So Nicki and Remy back cool. Aww shit lol.”

“Honestly if Nicki and Remy did make amends i wouldn’t be mad bc they kept it in the music! Nicki even said that herself she ain’t go trynna fight Nicki and shit she did was rappers do, not sensitive ass hos who can dish but can’t take,” someone else chimed in.

One person even speculated that Nicki was hinting at a Remy Ma collaboration on Pink Friday 2writing: “Nahhh no cap if Remy Ma is on Nicki Minaj album ima break my phone dawg.”

    1. She did nothing but cheat on her husband who helped her in the toughest time of her life. Just a snake who was never even relevant..ever.

      1. If Pap would have cut out all that simping he was doing then maybe Remy wouldn’t have left his bitch ass. Dudes who behave in this way have this happen all the time. When females see men behave like this it is a massive turn off. The fact that she left him for this stuttering Eazy Tha Cock Captain bozo proves this.

    2. 3 comments had nothing to do with what she said, or her music. This is part of the reason hip hop gets exploited and pillaged like it does. Messiness and nothing being preserved to still flourish.
