Rap Release Dates: Jay-Z, Kanye West, J. Cole, Mac Miller

In what could end up as the biggest day of releases in 2013, Tuesday, June 18 will see the official drops of some of the year’s most anticipated albums. Kanye West will release his Yeezus album Tuesday. The album leaked late last week but is still expected to move quite a few units. J. Cole will release his sophomore album on June 18. Born Sinner has been made available for free stream on Spotify a day before its retail release. Mac Miller is dropping his Watching Movies With the Sound Off album on the biggest day of releases. A follow-up to 2011’s debut Blue Slide Park, the album includes 16 tracks and three bonus songs. The Pittsburgh native has already posted the full-length video version stream to his sophomore album on his own website. Kelly Rowland, Quasimoto (Madlib) and Statik Selektah are among others dropping albums on Tuesday’s monstrous release day.

Jay-Z made the talk during Game 5 of the NBA Finals only half about basketball. At halftime, a commercial aired featuring Jay recording in a studio with Rick RubinPharrell WilliamsSwizz Beatz, and Timbaland. It ended up being a Samsung advertisement within which Jay-Z’s next album was announced, titled Magna Carta Holy Grail. The album will be dropping July 4, and Samsung will give away copies to Galaxy smartphone users for free, three days ahead of the release.

2 Chainz announced the title of his sophomore solo album. Already announcing September 10 as the release date for the album, the Playaz Circle co-founder took to Twitter and announced its title as B.O.A.T.S. II, better known as Based On A TRU Story 2. The album follows 2012’s solo debut of the same title.

U-God will release his first album since 2009. Keynote Speaker has been announced for a July 23 release date and will feature Wu brethren Method Man, GZA and Inspectah Deck, as well as Kool Keith, Styles P and Elzhi.
