Pusha T Says He Has No Tolerance For Liars

Pusha T, the rapper behind this year’s My Name Is My Name, recently spoke about his passion for truth during an interview published on Noisey’s YouTube account, presented by Dr. Martens

“At this stage in my life, my patience and my tolerance are at an all-time low,” Pusha T says in the video clip. “I have no room for voluntary lies. My whole life is surrounded around business. Anything that is untrue essentially jeopardizes my business and my take on it. I run into it all the time, lies and liars, constantly in this profession…I’m a very straightforward person.”

During the interview, Pusha T said that he’s always been an advocate for the truth.

“It’s always been instilled in me to talk straight,” Pusha says. “That’s just all I’m about right now. Speaking truthfully is just the only way to go. And it’s always gonna be the easiest way to go. You shouldn’t worry about how people are gonna take things. Just tell them the truth. That’s their job to deal with it.”

Pusha T’s My Name Is My Name was released in October.

During an interview with HipHopSince1987 before the album’s release, Pusha spoke about the album title’s significance, a reference that came from Marlo Stanfield’s character in the television series “The Wire.”

“It’s one of the more prominent catch phrases he said during the end of that series,” Pusha said. “He was just basically saying, ‘I am who I am. This is what I got. I stand on my name. I live this.’ And if you know anything about his character, he’s young, brash, amongst a lot of heavyweights. But he didn’t care about any of the past or history. He was like, ‘Man, I’m out here to get my money at all costs. No rules, no regulations. I’m here to compete.’ I just felt like that really embodied my presence in the Rap game.”

    1. rappers always say dumb shit like this they think they are the realest and they never lie. pusha is just as fake as officer ricky but he cant admit it.

    2. If pusha sold as much drugs as he claims in every song and if he was really doing shit in the streets their would be rumors stories and shit but there is nothing just his manager going to prison and dumb people thinking pusha had something to do with it. he dont even have any niggas just him and his brother and then they made that reup gang.

his brother even said they are entertainers and if your over 18 you should know this.

      1. Let me tell you a secret only insiders know:

Rap lyrics about illegal activities are all fabricated, you and the DEA ain’t smart enough to get intelligent rappers to dry snitch on themselves, you might get lucky and get a Boosie or a C-Murder but we ain’t stupid enough to snitch on ourselves so we can get indicted or audited so some suburban geek can go online and brag about how “real” his favorite Black rapper is.

    3. This nigga lied and said he could poop better than Ja Rule.

Look up in the sky nigga.
See who’s up in the sky nigga.
      It’s Ja Rule nigga.
And he about to poop on you nigga.

      #JaRulePoopsOnYallNiggas

    4. Yeah I don’t rock with liars in Rap so let me get a feature from the biggest fraud for my mixtapes and debut album what a fuckboy

    5. Shit is sad and pathetic, anonymous-blogs are the worst because one idiot catfish can make it sound like hundreds of people are ignirant immature idiots.

Pusha T is talking about interpersonal communication within the music business/rap industry and the honesty/dishonesty that exists in business relationships between CEOs, program directors, promoters, fellow artists, managers, booking agents, DJs, A&Rs and so on and so on.

Pusha T is an adult he’s dealing with album budgets, business relationships, road managers, producers and a litany of other adult biz that artists go through, he’s not some child obsessing over some fat nigga who lied to a reporter about his employment history.

Pusha dropped the AOTY and Def Jam didn’t give him the push he deserved because they erroneously thought Kanye could do his part but look at Big Sean’s situation and it’s obvious Kanye ain’t doing everything he sposed to…..bastard said he’d make a cameo for Pusha with “Hold On” and then had other priorities so the video ain’t gonna get the buzz it deserves….shit like that makes me livid.

      1. a liar is a liar. you cant make a statement about having no tolerance for liars in rap and make a song with the biggest fraud rap has ever seen and not expect someone to look at you sideways..

      2. Okay Geek-Unit get your troll on, but all my industry affiliated dudes and dudes in the industry know exactly what Pusha T is talking about.

The industry is Shady with janky contracts and thieving managers, and people who sell dreams and make false promises. I advise all my peeps to keep a tight circle, read the fine print and get your own lawyer.

You go focus on Officer Ricky being a fraud, let the grown folks discuss the idustry politics.

      3. “but all my industry affiliated dudes and dudes in the industry know exactly what Pusha T is talking about.”

So, how deep in the industry are you to know what Pusha is talking about?

      4. @Anonymous3

I have interned for a major label in their R&B/HipHop department, & I have family that’s been in the industry on different levels, I started out assisting street promotions then branched out to club promotions and DJing. I have also done some journalism on the editorial side and I’m currently doing A&R on an Indie and doing minor production and mastering videography.

LOL, one guy wants to disregard my input because I abbreviated “people” & said “peeps”, I normally say “family” but didn’t want any readers to feel excluded.

But naw not to put Pusha on blast but he needs Kanye for a video cameo & Kanye promised him one so he may be venting or sening subliminals but we all know that Pusha is Kanye’s artist and sure Kanye dud his little rant to help promote the album but that ain’t shit compared to a 16 or a video appearance….you owe that to the artist you sign.

Best Good Music artist besides Kanye.

2nd best if you consider common as a gm artist.

    7. I have no tolerance for a rapper with a bad album

I have no tolerance for a rapper that has no tolerance for liars
I have no tolerance for a black guy
I have no tolerance for someone who took forever to finally stop hopping on collabs and make his own album
I have no tolerance for someone that showed 0 creativity with his rap name, fuckn Pusha T
I have no tolerance for a real madrid fan
I have no tolerance for people who like soccer
I have no tolerance for people that use corny catch phrases

      1. “I have no tolerance for people who like soccer”…that’s at least 80% of the world’s population that you have no tolerance for based off that one statement.

      2. Don’t expect Hip hop to ever tell the truth. They are homosexuals with test tube kids and beards to the floor. Kanye being on TV with his GAY ACCENT, talkin about how genius he is. Ha!!!!! He won’t be living with Kartrashian as she was only along to make him look hetereo cause most black people are stupid and buy anything. Gangstas who used to be C.O.’s. Non-talented rhymers. Sizzurp drinking dudes who hang out with other losers. In the meantime, Hip Hop is about as interesting as a herpes cold sore (which many of them have). The list is endless. Hip Hip is built upon lies. They learned all this from the homos who hang out behind them: Russell Simmons, another mo with test tube kids among others.

He is def talking from experience their. Everyone there lies. EVERYONE.

    8. All this nigga does is rap about coke. I bet this nigga ain’t never move no weight like he says in his raps. I would love to fight one on one with this pussy ass nigga. He talk tough too much but I am sure this nigga can’t survive a fist fight

    12. “I have interned for a major label in their R&B/HipHop department… I have also done some journalism on the editorial side and I’m currently doing A&R on an Indie and doing minor production and mastering videography”

Sounds interesting. Doesn’t mean other people’s POV’s are discredited. Industry politics are widely known and reported on all the time. The artists everybody argues about have spelled out what goes on behind closed doors for years.

      1. Industry politics are not widely known, just surface knowledge not the intricacies of what goes on behind the scene.

Imagine having to buy out your own contract just to have artistic freedom from a label that wants your lead single to be a duet with Brittney Spears or signing a contract where you get 0.50 an album and don’t own your masters.

You signed a 360-Deal and now the label wants you to do 40 tour dates and you only get 40 racks, you signed over half of your publishing when you signed your first contract and U O E N O it.

Pusha T been through the ringer, he fought Jive records tooth and nail at the height of his popularity and I personally couldn’t imagine going from Star Trak to Good Music in a career span but it is what it is, the game is full of manipulative soulless, greedy lying and cheating people.

Just watched an interview with DMX wife and she was talking about how one of them devils robbed her and DMX for millions and now she’s broke after they had 40 million in the bank.

    13. rick ross lied about his past several times, so why does pusha t and other rappers hang out with a fraud who lied about his past

    14. Fuck you nigga you a liar yourself, rapping about you a kingpin and shit, everybody knows you ain’t about that life so fall the fuck back

    15. “Just watched an interview with DMX wife and she was talking about how one of them devils robbed her and DMX for millions and now she’s broke after they had 40 million in the bank”

Once again, DMX addressed this years ago. Said he made Def Jam $150 million, and pocketed $10 million. If he went broke that wasn’t the label’s fault. Nobody told him to blow millions on drugs.

    16. “Imagine having to buy out your own contract just to have artistic freedom from a label that wants your lead single to be a duet with Brittney Spears or signing a contract where you get 0.50 an album and don’t own your masters”

But that’s business. Bottom line, labels want their money back. They don’t just give artists full control over everything. Imagine if labels did that every time, then lose millions when said artist’s album flops, or they get arrested, and can’t even fulfill their tour dates. Not saying some of it isn’t shady, but nobody forces them to sign on the dotted line. Why should a recording artist be allowed to have 100% control over an industry they don’t control?

    17. “You signed a 360-Deal and now the label wants you to do 40 tour dates and you only get 40 racks, you signed over half of your publishing when you signed your first contract and U O E N O it”

40 racks is still better than the alternative. Would Waka Flaka prefer working for minimum wage at Walmart? Nobody said the music industry is fair, but there have been plenty of artists who succeeded despite the politics.

    18. “Pusha T been through the ringer, he fought Jive records tooth and nail at the height of his popularity”

Maybe because the label knew they wouldn’t sell and they didn’t. 78,000 1st week Hell Hath No Fury. Jive made it known they wanted to focus on more pop oriented acts.

    19. I love Pusha T but I find his statement to be a bit hypocritical as he worked with Rick Ross, hiphop’s biggest liar.

    20. “yet he works with rick ross all the time lol”

Ross isn’t a liar. He really is a gangster. He was a CO turned gangster.
