Prince’s Siblings Denied Request To Get Money From Estate

Siblings of the late Prince hit another roadblock in their attempt to receive money from his estate.

A judge denied a petition for compensation filed by Prince’s heirs — Sharon, Norrine and John Nelson — according to documents obtained by The Blast. The group claimed estate representative Comerica Bank has paid $20 million to lawyers and advisors without sending them a dime. In the petition, they requested payments of $20,000 a month.

“Comerica, on behalf of the Estate, has simply used the Heirs efforts and desire to be helpful and informed as gratuitous labor, taking advantage of the Heirs time, advice, services and work provided without wages or compensation,” the group alleged. “Unlike all others who have been excessively paid millions of dollars for their time.”

Prince’s siblings said they’ve been relying “solely on their pension, social security, personal savings and loans from friends” to support the estate. Comerica Bank argued the IRS is undervaluing the estate and requested time to sort it out before issuing payment.

The judge expressed sympathy for the heirs but claimed he didn’t have the authority to grant their request.

“Because the Court lacks authority the grant SNJ’s Petition, because even if it had the authority to grant SNJ’s Petition, doing so would create an unlawful and unreasonable potential liability for the Personal Representative,” the ruling read.

Prince didn’t leave a will, so his estate was to be divided among his six siblings following his death in 2016. One of the heirs, his half-sibling Alfred Jackson, died in August 2019.

    1. that’s stupid. he didn’t leave a will yet the money got divided up anyway. how does that work exactly? they were princes family for fucks sake they should be above all other people when it comes to his money. what would have prince wanted?

        1. I was thinking the same thing. Was he supporting them financially Before he died? Did he make a Verbal promise Before he died? WereThey supporting Him emotionally, or in any Other way before he died? … Just saying. (Plus, I think everybody knows by now, he Did Not commit suicide.)

        2. I posted this to Mr.Nelson a few minutes ago, but it disappeared. So I’ll say it again: Was he supporting his family Before he died? Did he make a Verbal agreement with them before he died? Did They support Him emotionally or any other way Before he died?…Just saying. (Also, everyone knows by now that he Is Not commit suicide.)

        3. Exactly, to those you are very close to and care about you leave a Will too. So that says what? Finish the sentence……?

        4. Like most musicians Prince spoke his true feelings through his music. In the song face down Prince said how he felt about people who only came around once in a while if at all with the lyrical line “for those who know the number and don’t call
Hmph, fuck all y’all”. That’s a mic drop on the subject of his feelings regarding his family and his fortune in my opinion.

    2. It’s a shame how can a bank make decisions on family business. Matters Prince had a will I believe but alot of snakes surrounded him through the years.

    3. Dude was dead like 5mins, and his family had his music plastered across every single platform that Prince himself refused to release to. Then there’s that insufferable commercial (Dr. Pepper I think), that blatantly rips off Prince’s likeness and even those who don’t know him know he would never sign off on that foolishness. They’re obviously pieces of shit
