Papoose Revives His Classic Song Sharades’ For A Coronavirus Freestyle

Throwing himself into the mix of artists who have dropped bars related to the Covid-19 pandemic, Brooklyn MC Papoose revived his classic mixtape track “Sharades” for a new Brady Watt-produced freestyle, in which he raps from the viewpoint of the virus.

Rocking a mask around his neck and gloves on his hands while driving, the mixtape legend references numerous things, including the confirmed infections of NBA star Kevin Durant and actor Idris Elba.

“I was born in the laboratory, my mother’s a scientist, I don’t know who was my father, they both deny it,” Pap raps, adding: “China said it was the US, they tell a different story … I don’t know who was my father, somebody call Maury.”

The concept of the original “Sharades” was first used to rap from the perspective of the infamous Hip Hop police. It was one of the singles (along with “Alphabetical Slaughter”) that helped cement his buzz during the height of the New York City mixtape era.

This was the second freestyle Pap’s dropped this week focused on the pandemic. In another verse, spit over Jay Electronica‘s “Univeral Soldier,” he questioned the origin of the virus, dropped some Trump shade and wondered whether governments were using the pandemic to extort fear.

    1. Pap always spitting knowledge. good ol days of rap, when positive, conscience, and thoughtful rap was cool. But seriously wtf is going on in the usa where ur president can brag about a weapons budget, starve his people for a wall he doesnt believe in, and a massive prison systems but the doctors dont have what they need to protect the public.

      1. “starve his people for a wall” What? “he doesnt believe in” What again? Cause people’s back accounts were larger during Obama’s reign, without the wall? Since when didn’t be believe in it? He talks about the wall like it’s his child.

        1. There is a graduation speech he gives where he says ” if there is a wall in front of you, go over it, go around it, or go through it” look it up. Wasn’t there a government shutdown? There where a bunch of people were not able to get a pay cheque. If i remember correctly, there was a crisis for students who were unable to pay for school meals. That government shutdown caused army families, fbi agents, flight operators to work without pay, so they were forced to go to food banks. The basic point was if they have all this money $25 billion for a wall, $450 billion military budget, who knows how much money there getting from the industrial prison complex, just seems odd that in the richest economy in the world that they don’t have enough medical equipment to combat a virus that will kill more people this year in your country than any “terrorist” will. To think that this $1 trillion dollar bail out is going to help the american people is a lie, its going into the rich peoples pocket along with all the medical equipment. Wake up my friend, your people are in trouble.
