Oxygen Officially Cancels Shawty Lo’s Reality Show

Shawty Lo’s controversial reality show All My Babies’ Mamas has reportedly been canceled before it even had a shot on TV.

According to The Daily Beast, Oxygen has supposedly responded to the backlash to the show, which focuses on the rapper and his 11 kids by 10 different mothers. Though the network is yet to confirm the cancelation, the publication claims that sources have revealed it “won’t ever see the light of day.”

A trailer for the show originally leaked to the Internet at the end of 2012. Organizers made a petition that reached almost 40,000 signatures, most likely a contribution to the alleged cancelation.

UPDATE: AllHipHop.com has received a statement from Oxygen denying that the show had been canceled. “This rumor is simply untrue. The project remains in early development,” said an Oxygen rep.

UPDATE #2: Contrary to AHH’s previous report, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Oxygen has indeed canceled Shawty Lo’s All My Babies’ Mamas.

“As part of our development process, we have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special. We will continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation,” said an Oxygen rep.

    1. I would never have watched this in a million years but I think its sad that censorship won out and allowed one group of people to decide we’re not allowed the option of watching it. Freedom of Speech & expression shouldn’t be up for discussion. Either you have it or you don’t, you cant make exceptions when somebody says something you don’t like. If we’re cancelling this show because it offends people, why not Cancel the Walking Dead & Boardwalk Empire because it offends the Anti-Violence groups, Cancel all shows revolving around sexual orientation, Politics or Religion because it offends groups of people, etc etc etc….

Once you open that can of worms and cave in to something like this your just inviting other people to cry until they get there way as well.

      1. It is not “censorship.” Censorship applies to news or public media, not private entities. Oxygen is allowed to air the program, provided they are ok with the negative backlash and loss of ad revenue.

You do not have a constitutional right to a TV show. The show isn’t being cancelled because it “offends people.” It will be cancelled because to progress negatively impacts their business interests.

This has happened for more than decades “anonymous” so if you think this is the “first” or a “can of worms” then you aren’t knowledgeable about the subject. How about googling “Hot Ghetto Mess” “Desmond Pfeiffer” for starters.

      1. but if they gonna cancel one they should cancel them all

fuck love & hiphop, basketball wives, kardashians
        fuck all that shit

      2. I agree, but as long as there are ignorant azzez watching it and tweeting about it on the daily, it’s not going anywhere.

    2. All they need to do is change the title too, “All The Wonderful Mothers Of My Joyous Kids” and it will get renewed for 10 seasons.

      1. He may be a pig but at least he is taking care of his kids which most black men arent doing.. I guess they want reality shows like love and hiphop showing black people fighting over stupid stuff all the time or

      1. Oprah was one of the founders of Oxygen, but since NBCUniversal bought it in 2007, she’s no longer tied to the network.

    3. There not gonna cancel this show over a few crybabies, ya’ll making yourselves feel a lil too important over here lol TV is a business and they give people what the people wanna watch.

AllHipHop.com has received a statement from Oxygen denying that the show had been canceled. “This rumor is simply untrue. The project remains in early development,” said an oxygen rep.

    5. Why does anyone even care about this? This isn’t Hip Hop at all and you guys love this wack shit. If you stop reading this shit and watching that shit maybe, just maybe, we can get help Hip Hop as opposed to being the problem with it. If it isn’t canceled it is just another way for America to look at our culture, well mine ’cause y’all ain’t Hip Hop, in a negative light. You think they would air this show if they didn’t expect this idiot to do some stupid shit so they could exploit it for ratings? No. You guys are fucking sheep.
