Offset is swelling with pride for what Migos have done as a group following his reunion with Quavo at the 2023 BET Awards.
The estranged group members put their issues to the side to honor the late TakeOff at the show on Sunday (June 25). On an Instagram Live on Thursday (June 29), Offset reflected on the major moment and declared Migos “the greatest group to ever touch the mic.”

“The BET performance was iconic man,” a noticeably happy Set said. “It cleared my soul. Me and my brother Qua, we put that together within 16 hours. Like 15 hours. We land from Paris like at 9pm and go straight to work to figure out how we gon’ put the show together man.
“We do that because we some real stars. We do that. We do this music. We the greatest group to ever touch the mic. RIP my brother Take. We did it for my brother Take.”

He continued: “Me and Qua stood tall, brother to brother. You dig what I’m saying? And I appreciate everybody for supporting, man. It was a movie, it was a vibe. We needed that for the culture. And yeah, that’s how we coming! We did that in 16 hours though! Like real professionals. Real professionals. Went out there, 16 hours, didn’t sleep, locked in on the visual. Me and Qua sat down, locked in on the visuals, locked in on the position of the stage, the lighting, everything as a unit.”
“And you know, when you put the three heads together, it’s always gon’ be cinematic. It’s always gon’ be the truth. It’s always gon’ be Godly. Thank God for that moment. And like I said, RIP to Take. Y’all know how we coming about my brother. And we did it for Take. And we still don’t take. That’s our legacy. Migos forever. The greatest group to ever do it.”

The pair performed a medley of Unc & Phew’s “Hotel Lobby” and Migos’ 2016 hit “Bad and Boujee” during a surprise set inside the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, much to the delight of the crowd. TakeOff’s vocals played throughout the performance as a white spotlight paid tribute to him, followed by an image of the late rapper appearing on the screen behind Quavo and Offset.
Cracks in the Migos’ close-knit relationship began to appear months before TakeOff’s passing, though. Rumors of the group disbanding circulated in May last year after fans noticed Offset and his wife Cardi B had unfollowed both Quavo and TakeOff on Instagram.
That same day, Quavo and TakeOff announced they had formed a new duo called Unc & Phew — a nod to their familial ties — and were readying their first single, “Hotel Lobby.” The song eventually landed on their Only Built For Infinity Links album, which dropped just weeks before TakeOff’s murder.
While an explanation for the split was never given, Quavo alluded to disloyalty on Offset’s part during an interview on the Big Facts podcast last October.
“We stand on real deal loyalty, and sometimes that shit ain’t displayed,” he said. “This ain’t got nothing to do with no label, no paperwork, no [Quality Control Music], nothing. This got something to do with the three brothers. And shit, it is what it is. Right now, we gon’ be the duo ’til time tell.”

In February, Quavo released a song where he affirmed that Migos was no more.
“Came in, swept the game like a storm with the muthafuckin’ flow, n-gga, Take did that/ So don’t ask about the group, he gone, we gone, young n-gga it can’t come back, damn!” he raps on “Greatness.”
Reports surfaced Offset and Quavo nearly came to blows backstage at the 2023 Grammy Awards, but nothing was ever confirmed. It now looks like the pair are in a much better place.
