November Is Now Hip Hop History Month – Because Congress Said So

For the first time in its history, the United States of America will observe November as Hip Hop History Month.

The Senate chambers made history in July when they passed resolution S.Res.331 which officially made November Hip Hop History Month and recognized August 11 as national Hip Hop Celebration Day in the United States.

Both public officials Congressman Jamaal Bowman of New York and Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California co-sponsored Resolution 331.

“Hip Hop is my life,” Bowman stated. “Hip Hop saved my life. Hip Hop gave me knowledge of self. Hip Hop is who I am. The celebration of Hip Hop history and the study of it is essential to our democracy, our innovation, our voice, and who we are as human beings.

“Hip Hop is an honest story of communities around the world and provides the opportunity to increase understanding and create a pathway forward for all of us.”

In celebration of Hip Hop History Month, the Universal Hip Hop Museum launched the “KNOW YA HIP HOP” campaign and will continue to work toward the grand opening of its physical museum in Hip Hop’s birthplace of The Bronx.

Artists involved with bringing the museum — which is slated to open its doors by 2024 — into fruition include Nas, Kurtis Blow, Ice T, LL Cool J and more.

    1. The title of this article does not end with a period, exclamation mark or question mark. Please understand and overstand that November has been acknowledged officially as Hip Hop History Month (See Universal Zulu Nation). Congress did not make that determination. Hiphop made the determination and Congress acknowledged it. Not the other way around. It is important that this is clear. Peace, Love, Unity and Safely Having Fun. …and it don’t stop!

      1. Nothing like supporting an entity that basicaly handed afrika bambaataa little black boys asses on a silver platter disgusting wanna promote the catholic church too?

    2. Actually November is Native American History month.

Funny how much better black people have it than ever and still complain they don’t have enough.

Y’all even use us Native’s as a means to argue for your own mistreatment by comparison. But there is none.

Native Americans are still the highest percentile of minorities shot by police. They have far worse ghettos than any hood any rappers ever came from. It’s called the Reservation. And finally, rappers love to culturally appropriate us. Just look at Pharrell when you he thought it was cool to wear a head dress.

Fuck your stupidity you smear on the world. It would be a better place with out Hip Hops influence.

Who ever wrote this article is no better then the two jack asses like Maxine who put this forth.

Don’t care If it’s Zulu or Clown Nation. None of you are of the 500 or 1st Nation.

November is Native Heritage month. Let’s see how long it takes before some starts to give us our paid dues.
And anyone with anything to say can shove it up there ass.

Ill stop bitching the day I see a full blooded Native American as President. Bet you forget y’all had that too

But keep whining about being oppressed.

      1. Pretty much i live in ND and have lived among the “ghettos” you speak of and have spent my share of time on the rez…this country is more fucked than anybody even knows its crazy these idiots we have pushing these constant stupid ass pandering policies just to secure votes instead of actualy making real change that actualy benefits the majority of people in this nation not just constantly using tax payers money for the stupidest of things while this country is eatting itself alive
