New Music Friday: New Albums From Benny The Butcher, Cash Cobain, Luh Tyler & More

A new Benny The Butcher EP probably wasn’t on anybody’s bingo card a week ago, but New Music Friday always delivers as the Buffalo legend hooks up with Drake, Fabolous and 38 Spesh for a unique three-track release.

Cash Cobain‘s whirlwind year also continues as he drops his addictive debut album Play Cash Cobain, with other releases coming from 18-year-old Luh Tyler and the recently released from prison Ralo.

The crown jewel of the week for some fans will be Travis Scott delivering Days Before Rodeo to streaming for the first time, a decade after the mixtape’s original release.

There are also releases from Southern rap veteran Trae Tha Truth, CMG rookie Lil Poppa and a star-studded EP from producer OG Parker.

Check out the full list of new albums below and peep this week’s best new singles here.

After dropping his Def Jam debut Everybody Can’t Go earlier this year and Summertime Butch project just two weeks ago, Benny still has more surprises in store for fans as he drops this three-track EP, Buffalo Butch, Vol 1. The most talked-about song will certainly be the Drake-assisted “Buffalo Freestyle,” which features the duo trading verses over an uncharacteristically lo-fi beat.

Arguably the fastest rising star in Hip Hop right now, Cash Cobain’s debut album strikes while the iron is hot as he continues to push drill in exciting new directions, turning the hard sound into something more playful and sexier. He also continues his streak of interesting samples, interpolating Tyrese’s classic cut “How You Gonna Act Like That.”

Producers: x9beatz, Oh Yeah Chris, Coupe, Str8Cash, Yakree

Finally making its way onto streaming services a decade after its initial release, Scott’s widely acclaimed mixtape holds up well given how 2014 much of it is. The Houston rapper promised fans some previously unreleased bonus cuts on the re-release, but those are currently only available on the digital deluxe version that can be purchased on his website.

Nine months after his release from prison for allegedly running a drug empire, Ralo has delivered his debut album following a decade of mixtape releases. The aptly titled Welcome Home is very much an appreciation of his freedom, with the project’s 16 tracks telling a story of incarceration, mental health and returning home.
