NEW MUSIC FRIDAY

The first week of November is coming to a close and it is already set to be an exceptional month for music. As everyone surely already knows, Drake and 21 Savage have just released their hotly anticipated joint album, Her Loss, after a brief delay.

While the 6 God and his Slaughter Gang sidekick will likely draw most of the attention this week, there are still other records worth spinning. Also dropping on this week’s edition of New Music Friday is Boldy James and Futurewave’s Mr.Ten08, R.A.P. Ferreira’s 5 to the Eye with Stars and Joji’s SMITHEREENS.

Drake & 21 Savage — Her Loss

There are millions of songs uploaded to Spotify and the major DSPs each week and that number appears to only be growing. With the onslaught of new music arriving on a daily basis, the album rollout is more important now than ever.

Of course, artists with the level of clout Drake and 21 Savage enjoy can drop whenever they please and fans will drop what they’re doing to listen. But it’s still nice to see such creativity go into a project’s release.

Her Loss, the joint LP from the two stars, has finally arrived, and was released after a hilarious run of fake interviews and promos. Luckily, the music speaks for itself and backs-up the elaborate rollout.

Boldy James & Futurewave — Mr. Ten08

Boldy James may be the best rapper in Griselda. While his counterparts (such as Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn) each have their own distinct charm, none have been as consistently excellent as the Detroit rapper.

James has developed an affinity for teaming up with a single producer across an entire album of late. Among others, he’s worked with Alchemist on Bo Jackson, Nicholas Craven on Fair Exchange No Robbery, Real Bad Man on Real Bad Boldy and now Futurewave on latest project Mr. Ten08.

R.A.P. Ferreira — 5 to the Eye with Stars

Born in Chicago but raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, R.A.P. Ferreira is known for an oddball flow and lyrics which demand a second listen.

Also known to rap under the name Milo, which was inspired by the protagonist of The Phantom’s Tollbooth, Ferreira’s latest album, 5 to the Eye with Stars, arrives one year after his previous album the Light Emitting Diamond Cutter Scriptures and four years since his last project under the Milo moniker, budding ornithologists are weary of tired analogies.

Joji — SMITHEREENS

Joji didn’t have a traditional rise to fame. The pop/R&B/rap artist began his career as a YouTuber who created comedy sketch videos. He then launched his music career, amassing millions of streams in the process.

Now a certified star, known for songs such as “Glimpse of Us,” “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK” and “Sanctuary,” the Japan-born singer has dropped SMITHEREENS, which features nine songs.
