Nelly, Larry Hughes Plan Athletic Facility

St. Louis natives Nelly and Larry Hughes are in the process of developing a multi million-dollar athletic facility.

The two partners are planning to build a massivce athletic complex in the Howard Bend redevelopment area of Maryland Heights, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

The facility is currently in the earliest stages of planning, though it is confirmed that Nelly’s privately held development company, Nelly Inc., has purchased 60 acres of farmland for the proposed facility.

The development team for Nelly Inc. presented their plans to Maryland Heights officials, but have yet to request zoning variances for the property. Some Maryland Heights officials visited Philadelphia at the end of October to see what an athletic facility similar to the one proposed by Nelly would look like.

Christopher “Topher” Jones, managing partner of Nelly Inc., did not offer any details about the plan. “We’re trying to keep this under wraps,” he said. “This thing is in the baby stages. We’re still in talks with the city.”
