Back in July of this year, Nelly reached a milestone that has gone nearly extinct in music when his debut album Country Grammar went diamond (a.k.a. RIAA certified sales of 10 million albums) and now the St. Louis-bred rapper is adding another shot of pimp juice to his chalice after signing on to join Joy Taylor, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe as a sports analyst on their sports debate show, Skip and Shannon: Undisputed.
Nelly, who recently told HipHopDX that he plans on dropping a collaborative mixtape with Florida Georgia Line, was the first rapper to join Skip on his previous show First Take which he co-hosted with Stephen A. Smith, and according to the outspoken sportswriter, has proven his expertise in the world of sports.
“I can’t wait to reunite with my man Nelly,” says Bayless in a press release. “Seven years ago he was the first rapper we ever had on my former debate show, and he was a revelation. He can debate sports with the same passion, guts and clever creativity that he writes and performs his classic music. He and I share this: we think we’ve never lost a debate. Nelly was made for Undisputed.
“Over & Over”: Nelly is joining forces with FGL for some bro-country Hip Hop very soon.
This new role marks Nelly’s third show with Nellyville and Real Husbands of Hollywood both airing on BET. With all three shows running concurrently the multitalented rhymer is now one of less than a handful of African-American actors to boast such an honor.
“With new music out, touring, Real Husbands of Hollywood out October 11th and Nellyville season two, Country Grammar going diamond and now getting to work with Fox Sports, this is a great year, and I’m excited to be presented with continuous new opportunities”, the soon-to-be 42-year-old star exclaimed. “I usually just comment on sports from my couch, I’m very passionate about sports, so this is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m looking forward to working with Fox, Skip and the team.”
Skip and Shannon: Undisputed airs weekdays at 9:30am EST on FS1.
This show is a sinking ship either way. Bringing in another personality isn’t going to boost ratings. Should’ve stayed with ESPN. Nobody watches Fox Sport 1. Nobody.
I agree I don’t understand all the people from ESPN leaving to go to FS1, Chris Broussard just left ESPN to go to FS1, horrible move by Chris fox doesn’t even have a NBA contract, they don’t show NBA games I don’t think, They really don’t even cover the NBA unless it’s Collin Cowherd. Broussard will be luck to be on once a week, while at ESPN he was there every day during the NBA season, they have like hour shows covering free agency, FS! doesnt have that. They think adding Nelly will help lol, maybe they feel like nelly will
bring a young black audience wrong shows you how dissconnected they are. They are desperate, ratings dropping bad, they are over spending it’s just not working. I do watch FS! when they have a UFC event though lol.
Well if you believe Skip FS1 offers more freedom over being held in check so to speak at ESPN. That’s not a bad reason to leave.
He needed to be held in check the majority of the shit he says is just for shock value. He said Kyrie carried the Cavs in the finals and should have won finals MVP, he loses credibility when he says dumb shit like that, Lebron lead the finals out of both teams in Points, Rebounds, Assist, Blocks, and Steals and Skip still couldn’t give the man his Credit.

I just wanted to copy and paste what you said in 1,000% agreement!! Many times he lost his credibility with me but that one took the whoooole damn cake and birthday party.
Skip is a professional troll. His whole thing was to take the absurd side of an issue because that’s what makes people talk. I doubt he believes 95% of the stupid shit he says. It made him $5 mil, so it worked.
He’s full of shit. He knows the reason is that ESPN isn’t going to pay anybody what him and all the people who left and went to Fox are getting paid anymore, simple as that. They know the apocalypse is coming for cable and satellite rights’ fees. Just look at the NFL, even their ratings are down this year. People aren’t necessarily watching less, but you can watch everything on an app on your phone or any other device on the go, and that’s going to cut into TV ratings and the ability to charge more and more for subscribers. Less money means less money to pay for shit like having Skip be a troll on TV. They need to save that money for the NFL, NBA, and MLB contracts when they have to bid because that’s always going to be where the ratings come from.
The former president or something is running Fox Sports now. Plus, ESPN is smartly getting ready for the future when cable and satellite rights fees, where they currently get most of their money, isn’t going to drive shit in the near future as more and more people use shit like Netflix type of stuff to stream on demand shows. ESPN cost more than any other channel by a mile to have on the cable, which is why the cable and satellite bills are so high. Everybody with a big like $4 or $5 mil kind of contract like Cowherd, Erin Andrews, Skip, and Bill Simmons all got cut, and as you can see, it hasn’t made a difference because ESPN knows the reason people watch their channel is the games. They’re now like if you want to be a personality on our channel, we’ll pay you decent, but you ain’t worth all that doe. Get on here and get exposure and be popular while we make most of our money off our TV contracts. Fox Sports only has some college football and that’s about it. I don’t know what they’re going to do when these people’s contracts come back up again and not only do they not have the ratings but most of the ratings have moved to people watching that kind of shit on an app or something, which means the rights fees are going to be less from the cable and satellite companies anyway.
The i.r.s will be happy to hear this
Lol I forgot all about that, the I.R.S is managing Nelly now lol , wouldn’t be shock if he hosted a show with Bill O’reily.
