Nelly & Alleged Rape Victim Reach Settlement

Nelly and Monique Greene, the woman who claimed he raped her on a tour bus in the Seattle area last October, have reached a settlement regarding their respective lawsuits, according to TMZ.

Although the criminal case against Nelly was dropped after Greene refused to cooperate with police, the alleged victim sued him for defamation. The platinum-selling rapper responded with a countersuit, claiming he was being defamed since the two had consensual sex.

Nelly’s lawyer told TMZ that both sides agreed to dismiss their suits and no money was exchanged. Greene’s attorney, Karen Koehler, confirmed both parties dismissed the cases but refuted the claim that no money was involved in the settlement.

Nelly was accused of sexual assault by 21-year-old Monique Greene and subsequently arrested last October. Now, two more women have come forward asserting the multi-platinum-selling rapper sexually assaulted them as well. According to The Daily Beast, new court documents filed earlier this week claim Nelly has made a habit out of inviting fans backstage where he touches them inappropriately and, in some cases, masturbates in front of them.

The document includes another incident involving two women from the United Kingdom, identified as Jane Doe 1 and 2, who allege Nelly assaulted them while he was overseas. One of them women says the 43-year-old artist called her a “cunt” after not consenting to intercourse.

The Daily Beast reached out to Greene’s attorney Karen K. Koehler who said one accuser is a sergeant in the U.S. military, while the other is an English mother who doesn’t want to relive the trauma of what allegedly happened to her.

“They didn’t ask for this,” Koehler said. “You’re hanging out with the artist and it’s fun and then things change … in an instant.”

Koehler also says more accusers are planning to come forward.

Nelly was arrested on October 7, 2017 in Auburn, Washington. He denies any sexual assault ever occurred and is planning to countersue Greene after she threatened to sue for defamation and sexual assault.

Nelly’s rape accuser has been identified as Seattle club host Monique Greene. After initially being uncooperative with prosecutors, Greene now wants to sue the Country Grammar rapper for sexual assault and defamation, according to TMZ.

But Nelly’s attorney Scott Rosenblum said he plans to countersue. “It comes as no surprise that Ms. Greene filed a lawsuit against Nelly seeking money after we announced our intention to hold her accountable,” Rosenblum said. “We always believed her accusation was motivated by greed.”

The alleged incident occurred on the morning of October 7 after Nelly’s Seattle concert. Court documents obtained by TMZ say Greene was drinking with Nelly and his entourage before getting into an SUV with him. After being taken to his tour bus, which was parked in a Walmart parking lot, she allegedly sat on Nelly’s bed and he started masturbating. Despite Greene’s efforts to stop him, he then allegedly had sex with her against her will.

Greene reportedly said she was screaming that she wanted to leave. Consequently, an entourage member pushed her off the bus and Nelly promptly tossed her a $100 bill with the words, “Bye bye.”

In addition to the alleged sexual assault, Greene is also suing Nelly and his team for kicking off a “smear campaign” against her, saying she was only after “money, fame and notoriety.”

The second-degree rape charges against Nelly were dropped earlier this month.

The moment a person is accused of sexual assault, their reputation is automatically soured — guilty or not. Nelly, the recent subject of an alleged rape case, plans to sue the woman who accused him of the crime to not only clear his name but also help sexual assault victims.

The “Hot In Herre” rapper’s attorney Scott Rosenblum told TMZ, “Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation. He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation.”

He added, “This type of reckless false allegation cannot be tolerated as it is an affront to the real survivors of sexual assault.”

The 42-year-old rap vet was accused of sexual assault by a 21-year-old Seattle woman on October 7. She claimed the incident happened on a tour bus that was parked in a Walmart parking lot in Auburn, Washington.

Nelly was arrested but promptly released without charges. The woman later said she wanted to drop proceedings. Due to her unwillingness to cooperate with prosecutors, the case was officially dropped last week. Since day one, Nelly has proclaimed his innocence.

“Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation,” Nelly wrote on Twitter October 7. “I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.”

Nelly’s rape case has been dropped, according to TMZ. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office — based in Washington state — reportedly said the alleged victim’s unwillingness to cooperate made it impossible to proceed with the charges.

Consequently, Nelly wasn’t formally charged with a crime.

The alleged incident happened during the early hours of October 7 on Nelly’s tour bus after he’d just performed in Ridgefield, Washington. The “Hot In Herre” rapper was booked at a Des Moines jail by Auburn Police on charges of second degree rape but soon released.

He denied the allegations via Twitter.

“Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation,” he wrote. “I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.”

The 21-year-old woman who accused Nelly of the crime later said she regretted calling police.

After a 21-year-old Washington woman accused Nelly of an alleged rape, the St. Louis rapper was arrested, but promptly released without charges pending a police investigation. The unidentified woman now wants police to drop the proceedings so she can go back to her normal college life.

A letter from the woman’s attorney, Karen Koehler, stated the alleged victim said she regretted calling 911 to report she’d been raped on Nelly’s tour bus after an Auburn, Washington concert on October 7, according to Buzzfeed.

Although Commander Steve Stocker told BuzzFeed The Auburn Police Department will continue to investigate if any crime took place, the woman, who  still asserts the incident took place, has decided she will not be testifying in any criminal case.

“We do not live in a society where a 21-year-old college student can feel safe enough to pursue criminal charges against a celebrity for an alleged rape,” Koehler wrote. “As she cries alone in her apartment with mounting hysteria, she will learn that the celebrity and his lawyer are issuing public statements that her ‘allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness.’ That her agenda is ‘money, fame and notoriety.”

Koehler pointed out the stress of the entire fiasco has weighed heavily on her client. The woman also believes her privacy was compromised by police.

“People are saying horrible things already,” Koehler said. “She cannot handle this. She is about to break. She wants to close the door. She wants this to end. She just cannot bear it.”

On the other hand, Nelly’s attorney Scott Rosenblum insists the accuser’s story was a “fabrication” and is demanding a public apology.

“Her reckless accusation, once investigated thoroughly, was exposed for what it was — a fabrication,” Rosenblum told BuzzFeed. “A fabrication that has caused Nelly and his family to suffer emotionally and financially. It is not enough. This type of reckless allegation is an affront to women who are real victims of sexual assault.”

The story of the woman who was allegedly raped by Nelly has emerged in a new report by TMZ.

The alleged victim is a 21-year-old Seattle resident who claims to have met Nelly at a club. She and some friends were reportedly drinking at his table, got “tipsy” and left with Nelly’s crew for an after party.

The woman says she was then taken to Nelly’s tour bus where he tried to have sex with her despite her objections. According to the story, Nelly told her to “shut up” and said he wanted to have sex without a condom. She refused but he did so anyway.

After the alleged rape took place, she claims Nelly offered her money. When she turned down the offer, another woman approached and told her, “You gotta go.” This unidentified associate of Nelly kicked her off the tour bus and tossed $100 at her.

Nelly’s lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, said his client’s accuser has “zero credibility” and is making a “dangerous, fraudulent allegation.”

“It does not surprise me that she wanted to have her story publicized,” he told TMZ. “That is playbook 101 of a person with an agenda and clearly she has one. The agenda is money, fame and notoriety.”

After being arrested for an alleged rape on Saturday morning (October 7), Nelly has been released without charges.

The St. Louis rapper’s lawyer Scott Rosenblum and manager Juliette Harris confirmed his release to USA Today. Nelly took to Twitter to deny the rape accusations in a series of tweets.

“Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation,” he wrote. “I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.

“I do want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation,” he continued. “I also want to thank my fans for their unwavering support. They know me. I assure you I will be vindicated. And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim. Thank you.”

“To be absolutely clear. I have not been charged with a crime therefore no bail was required,” he added in a subsequent tweet. “I was released, pending further investigation.”

Following Nelly’s arrest for an alleged rape on Saturday morning (October 7), the 42-year-old rapper’s lawyer Scott Rosenblum has denied the incident.

“Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation,” Rosenblum said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Our initial investigation clearly establishes this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”

Nelly was booked into the SCORE Jail in Des Moines by Auburn Police on charges of second degree rape, according to Q13 Fox News. The SCORE Jail inmate roster currently doesn’t have a Cornell Iral Hayens, Jr. — Nelly’s real name — in its system.

    This is a developing story.
