Nas, The Roots, More Tapped For Levi’s Ad Campaign

Levi’s has launched the “Levi’s Pioneer Sessions: The Revival Recordings,” an ad campaign that features musical artists of varying genres recording their own versions of classic songs.

Among the artists selected are Nas, Raphael Saadiq, John Legend and the Roots.

Nas has remade “Hey Young World” by Slick Rick, while Raphael Saadiq did the same for “It’s a Shame” by the Spinners. Legend and The Roots, who have teamed up for the Philadelphia crew’s next album, recorded “Our Generation” by Ernie Hines.

“Slick Rick is my personal favorite emcee,” explained Nas. “This record opened my eyes to how big Hip Hop could become and Levi’s Pioneer Sessions gave me the freedom to re-connect with the record in a new way.”

“This campaign brings together influential musical pioneers of today with some of the most iconic musicians of all time,” commented Doug Sweeny, VP, Levi’s Brand Marketing. “We are excited to work with such an inspirational group of musicians while providing a platform for music fans to check out remakes of original iconic songs.”

Below is the complete list of artists featured in the campaign, along with the song they rerecorded:

    1. It’s amazing to see how far Hip-Hop has come. There was a time when corporations would have never enlisted Hip-Hop musicians to endorse their product.
