While Nas and Damian Marley’s much-discussed album, Distant Relatives, was being recorded, other news concerning Nas was making most of the headlines – the rapper’s high-profile divorce with singer Kelis.
In an interview with MTV News, Nas revealed that the recording process with Marley kept him even-keeled. “Personal life is what it is,” explained the Queensbridge emcee. “Everybody goes through it. Working on this record got me through it. Rockin’ with D got me through it. His whole squad, his whole team, the way he rides, his whole culture. He didn’t have to push anything on me. He didn’t have to say anything particular. Just, I know this is my brother right here. Rockin’ with him, I kept my head clear and focused on what we was doing, so it was all good.”
Nas also spoke on how the recording process brought his own family together with the Marleys. “It’s mind-blowing, man. Anytime you see family, you’re always taken aback and see the similarities between people. When you see Stephen, you see Julian — all the brothers. It’s an amazing thing. Sometimes I think, ‘What if their father was here to see all of them, how well they’re doing now?’ He’s gotta be proud — even now. It’s a beautiful thing. [My brother] Jungle definitely came through. We made it a big family affair; the Marleys and Joneses: We chillin’.”
Currently, Nas is touring with Damian Marley in support of the album.

I don’t mind Lil Wayne, but lyrically he’s not even near the same level as Nas. Wayne has commercial backing. Nas’ Untitled album was almost shut down completely because of the previous title and a lot of stores didn’t carry it. He didn’t get hardly any airplay or spins on MTV / BET.
The Untitled album had two singles (Hero and Sly Fox), one of them was never played because it was airing out Fox News who made sure that shit never was played on the radio or TV. Weezy’s 2nd single was about a bitch licking his lolipop.
