Nas has found a new home in the Big Apple in the form of a luxury apartment he is coughing up major cash each month to rent.
The New York Post reported on Tuesday (May 21) that the Queensbridge rapper has landed a swanky new condo in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan for the eye-watering sum of $16,500 per month.
The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath property is located at the Enrique Norten-designed One York, which is the first living complex in New York City to feature an automated parking garage.
The sixth-floor, 1,714-square-foot condo also boasts its own private terrace, a chef’s kitchen and a bedroom suite with a walk-in closet and spa-like bath.
Nas will be paying for his new spot in part by returning to the road.
Earlier this week, the rap legend announced that he’s celebrating the 30th anniversary of his seminal debut album Illmatic by teaming up with the Las Vegas Philharmonic for three shows later this year.
The concerts will take place over Labor Day Weekend (August 29, August 31 and September 1) at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, with support from the live orchestra.
“Las Vegas has always served as a creative outlet for my music, and these performances will take that to the next level,” he told Billboard. “I am excited to partner with the Las Vegas Philharmonic to bring this first-of-its-kind performance to Encore Theater and to showcase my music to my fans in Las Vegas in a whole new way.”
AEG Presents Las Vegas senior vice president Bobby Reynolds added: “We could not be more thrilled to welcome Nas to Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas for this historic collaboration with the Las Vegas Philharmonic to celebrate one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made.
“Marrying Nas’ legendary catalog with the unparalleled sound of the Las Vegas Philharmonic Is guaranteed to be an unforgettable and must-see experience for all Nas fans, and there is no venue more perfect in Las Vegas for this collaboration or a better place to be this Labor Day Weekend for entertainment than Encore Theater.”
Nas isn’t just taking a trip down memory lane in 2024, though. He is also set to drop a new album with DJ Premier following decades of speculation surrounding a joint album from the longtime collaborators.
The duo kickstarted the rollout last month by releasing the first single, “Define My Name.”
Must be nice to be filthy rich, unlike us peasants. I wonder why he didn’t get a place in the location he claims to rep all the time though? In his music videos he shoes himself in the hood with the people, not in a high-rise luxury, white majority location.
Maybe that mentality you have about other people’s success is the reason why you still there. Hating and pocket watching are not good look for you son.
I somehow doubt this is his only NY residency. This same article talks about him getting real estate investments into Queens….
@rahRah nahh, it’s more so because I work a normal job and am not an entrepreneur with my own business. Fact is, you can only make so much money using your own two hands or without selling something unique to yourself (artists). I don’t hate people for being wealthy, but Nas is a complete hypocrite who pretends he’s still a part of the hood. He only visits for promo.
Again, you got words for Nas but Nas ain’t never put you or anyone that work an ordinary job and break a sweat to make that check down. So why you doing it to him? If anything, he’s been standing for the people and building up the youth in the hood through his artistry. He’s opened our eyes and let us know the power is our hands. He didn’t have to be in the hood to do that. He’s lived through it. He lifted himself and his family up out of there. What more can you ask for?
@rahrah I can ask for a communist nation in which GREEDY people like Nas are FORCED to give up the majority of their wealth so OUR people don’t have to suffer for eternity! If NAS actually cared at all about us in the hood, he’d donate 90% of his money. But nope, all he care about is money. He don’t actually care about us
LoL! If you want wealth, you have the power to get for yourself.
wait…..did you just ask FOR a communist nation? WTF is wrong with you?
Salut to The GOAT. He’s an inspiration to us all. So happy for all of his success. The greatest measure of his character is his humility. A down to earth, stand up guy who we’re blessed to still have in the game dropping gem albums. Queens stand up! QGTM
Waste of money. Can’t even cash in or recoup when he moves out because he’s renting.
It’s all good fam. A lot of it don’t make sense. Maybe one day when you get his kinda bread you’ll understand.
He’ll probably make the years rent in a couple days of touring.
Nas is a pretty nice, but extremely overrated rapper. He hasn’t dropped a good album since 2008. While I can enjoy his early albums, I think in real life he’s an arrogant pr!ck. He makes the news with tired Primo beats and showing off. A real legend would make the news with great music and charity.
uhhh, did you just completely miss the 6 album run with Hit Boy in which Nas was winning Grammy’s?
What about the 6 albums he dropped in 3 years all acclaimed? It’s a whole other prime for him what are you talking about?
GOAT pad for the GOAT rapper!!!!
GOAT pad for the GOAT rapper!!!!
Nas cool AF. This article was pretty pointless though.
