Nas Releases ‘Nastradamus’ 20th Anniversary Capsule Collection

In one of the boldest nostalgic moves of the decade, Nas has rolled out the launch of his Nastradamus‘ 20th-anniversary capsule collection.

The limited-edition clothing line takes its name from the 1999 album of the same name and features four items in two t-shirts (one featuring the song title for “God Love Us”), a long-sleeve tee and tan hoodie.

Despite going platinum, the album was critically panned for its incongruous themes and uncharacteristic ploys at commercial acceptance and eventually became synonymous with a Hip Hop album “flop.” In 2011, the album topped Complex’s list of 50 Worst Rap Album Fails.

In ironic news, Nas has since distanced himself from the album with the polar opposite reception: his debut, Illmatic.

Prices for the Nastradamus‘ 20th-anniversary capsule collection range from $25-65 and can be found on shop.nasirjones.com.

    1. I disnt like the alvum as much as those that came before it..but Yep.. This was the start of article lies. The album went platinum and was still called a failure..This was the beginning of the media brainwashing in my youth.

    2. Nas is one of my favourite MCs of all time but this is one album that should be buried and never dug up again. Definitely the weakest entry in his discography, although it still had a couple of good tracks.

    3. Alot of people forget that this album was changed up last minute due to leaks. This and I am… We’re supposed to be a double album. Nas kills his fiance and himself at the end of I am on the song undying love. At the start of the OG nastradamus he pleads with God and is brought back to life as nastradamus. The whole idea and ambition behind to project is pretty cool to look at twenty years later. Look up the original tracklisting online. BTW I forget what song it is but the one about Nas rapping from the perspective of a jail cell is one of his greatest most overlooked verses of all time

    4. “Shoot ‘em Up” is the only Christmas song that gets played in my home. And one of the only tracks on that album that gets regular spins too!

    5. Impressive to me, because they are stil talking about this album after 20 years! Amazing man!!!! In today’s rap music not that many albums are better! Nas GOAT

    6. This album did not need an anniversary. Went back to it several times and still was just an awful album. Sorry king ??‍♂️

      1. You’re out of your mind. That’s one of his best albums. You’re obviously not a real NAS fan. GTFO with your garbage ass opinion.

    7. Come on man, I need a new Nas album. You give me dizziness with all this blah blah anniversary shit. Give me something new, man. I had enough of your old shits. Or are you afraid of dropping a new album since your last album really sucked and had critical reviews from the critics? You can do better, man. Just drop something like Stillmatic or Untitled and I’ll be fine.

      1. Nas don’t have to drop shit if he don’t want too. He has nothing else to prove to nobody if he drop something is just because he love the game that all. He already drop several classics and had Platinum Albums. He been there done it it time for the new Generation now!

    8. This album was not bad at all. Had some of Nas’ most slept on verses. Last verse on “Life We Chose” one of the realest verses ever. Project windows, Come Get Me, Family, God Love Us, Last Words (Prison Cell Verse) he spazzed out. Only songs that were weak were Big Girl Now and You Owe Me

    9. People criticize an album like this one of Nas, like it is the worst ever. Yes, maybe the Nastradamus album but think people, do you even know how hard it is to even put out albums!!! Think “albums” Nas and Jay Z are the only two artists that a record company would even let them do a full album this many years. Back to the Nastradamus Album, it is not bad at all only 2 or 3 bad cuts… now think of other rap albums in the last 20 years. Exactly!!! We know none! There you have it! This is a credit to Nas to transcend over so many years whether his albums were good or bad! Nas made it man! The Nastradamus album is okay and not his best but clearly we are still talking about this album after 20 years. Credit to Nas man! The boy pen game has been on point a long time while the rest “new and old rappers” are gone. They simply cannot compete! I must say Nas GOAT… I would say Nastradamus is a win for Nas! I thank you!

      1. Yo that’s not even the issue. Is Nastradamus better than what lots of other artists put out? For sure. Is it one of his better albums? Hell no. If he’s gonna do a anniversary capsule collection like this, he should do it for It Was Written, Stillmatic, I Am, God’s Son… something. Just not this one.

    10. I get how people say this was far from a classic and was weak by Nas. One reason why was he was so hot going into this album and then we got “You Owe Me.” HOWEVER, go back and listen to Jay’s Vol 1. Jay’s Vol 1 has a few bangers but a lot of it is trash. Just like Nastradamus. In fact, you put their first 3 albums b2b and I got Nas all day.

    11. We need a anniversary of I AM n nas needs to re-release it as i am the autobiography the 2 cd album that got 4.5 mics in.the source…..the biggest mystery in rap history….THATS what nas fans want

    12. I love Nas but most of his albums are doo doo. He has 1 classic, which is amazing for any artist. But he’s too good to only have 1 classic. I dont wanna hear about ‘it was written’ or ‘I am’, they’re not classics. This album here is so trash it hurts me deep. Only has 4 albums that I can listen to without too many skips, it’s sad for someone of his skill level.

      1. And you’re not to be questioned just cuz u paid your internet bill this month. Talking bout Don’t tell me this album or that album ain’t what YOU said like I’m supposed to take your word for it like you the end all be all of Hip Hop?

Best you kill that noise and salute

      2. One classic bro what the hell you smoking. You must be young! You forgot Stillmatic which got 5 mics and consider a classic and it was written was a classic album. Great albums in Life is good, God Son, Most of all his worse cd are better than most artist whole catalog.

      3. Illmatic, It Was Written and Stillmatic are all indisputable classics, and I Am is pretty close. WTF are you smoking

    13. From Nasty Nas to Esco’s trash. FOH with this trash ass time capsule, raggedy ass hoodie, lol. For all of broke Nas’ homeless fans out there. Everybody wants a time capsule for Reasonable Doubt or Blueprint, fuck it, any King HOV album. It’s the ROC in here!

    14. I’ll take this album or any nas’s albums than any other artist today! Nas skills on a Microphone is on another island by itself. You people are crazy!

    15. I would Love to see any other Rapper put their against Nas’s catalog. Not even close… Only Jay Z can stand next to it or above it. People be gone!

    16. This album is alright and not that bad! People do you know how hard it is to put out albums consistently? Nas did that! Jay z did that… Now Kanye is doing it! Not counting Drake because he is not a rapper to me. This album Nastradamus is a classic by Nas to me, haters! It is still being played and discussed.

    17. Nas celebrating Nastradamous is intentional. He stated he was tired of celebrating Illmatic, arguably the best album to bless Hip Hop and certainly his catalog. He wants his other music recognized.

So, he’s going polar opposite and celebrating Nastradamous; the worst album in his catalog.

That’s Nas… only MC to with the heart to do shit like that.

    18. I actually ordered this merch cos I loved the Album unlike most people, only bad song on there Is “Big Girl” IMO. Anyways this merch is trash especially the Tees, it’s printed on a Gildan T-shirt the Kind you find at Walmart. Universal music group charged $30 for this shit I can illegally get made in my backyard for $2. I’m filling a Paypal dispute. I ordered the Hoodie too and I ain’t received it yet. I don’t think Nas even knows about this Merch being sold on his website cos he won’t approve this trash
