Missy Elliott is always one to give her peers praise, so it’s no surprise that she recently commended Busta Rhymes for winning BET’s coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.
In an Instagram reel posted to her official account on Monday (June 26), the Supa Dupa Fly rapper shared a snippet from the award show where she was featured in a video along with Busta’s other friends and collaborators. In the clip, Missy praises the “Make It Clap” rapper for his versatility and imaginativeness.
She would even refer to the 51-year-old musician as her “twin,” noting how he inspired her throughout her career.
“To my Twin @bustarhymes, we have been glued at the hip for 26 years & my LOVE & ADMIRATION for you still grows. I am still in aww over your ART & your MUSIC, but most of all, your HEART is at the TOP of any chart! Love you, bro, and CONGRATULATIONS on your Lifetime Achievement award & many more to come thank you for the TIMELESS MUSIC & CLASSIC VISUALS you’ve shared with the WORLD,” she wrote in the post’s caption.

Busta seemed appreciative of Missy’s praise and responded in the comment section, saying he was “grateful” for having the multi-hyphenate in his life.
Taking place at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Sunday night (June 25), the 2023 BET Awards was brimming with the who’s who in Hip Hop today.
However, one of the most notable moments of the night was Busta Rhymes being bestowed with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The rapper gave a powerful yet emotional speech as he reflected on his nearly four-decade career.
Busta’s touching speech began on an emotional note as he became overwhelmed with the love and adoration from inside the room.
“I’ma wear it on my sleeve: I do want to cry,” he said before removing his sunglasses and wiping the tears from his eyes, prompting more cheers of support from the audience.
From there, the Brooklyn, New York native looked back on his remarkable yet, at times, turbulent journey to stardom, admitting he was “scared” when his former group, Leaders of the New School, broke up in the mid-90s, which left a young Busta with a mouth to feed and an uncertain path ahead of him.
Missy and Busta should do a verzuz. Its a good match. Or Redman.
i been saying that for the last 2 years. missy and busta are the only ones that can hold a candle to each other in a verzuz matchup. as far as redman, i could see him against ludacris. i always said luda was the redman of the south. sad they never did a track together….not yet anyway
Is verzuz even a thing anymore? I never hear anyone talking about it . I also never see it making headlines anywhere like it used to.
No diss to Missy but always felt low key Busta would prefer someone whose throat he could rip they throats out. The only thing that had in common was the outlandish videos. I personally don’t think you could have anyone go against him …..with the exception of ol dirty bastard. They wasted the Ludi verzuz.
