Miss Mulatto Wins Jermaine Dupri’s Inaugural Rap Game Competition

Jermaine Dupri’s debut season of his Lifetime network reality show Hip Hop competition, The Rap Game has come to a close and one clear winner has been crowned. The show pitted five pre-adult rappers; Miss Mulatto, Lil Niqo, Lil Poopy, Supa Peach and Young Lyric against one another for the opportunity to win a recording contract with Dupri’s So So Def imprint and the 17-year-old Mulatto will now be the new face of the label.

The eight-episode first season saw the competitors battle it out in various challenges that highlighted mandatory attributes a rap star should possess such as battle rapping, live performances and penning and recording a full song in-studio. Being around the Atlanta rap scene and having years worth of performances made Mulatto (real name Alyssa Michelle Stephens) not only the most consistent artist but the ideal choice to resume business once cameras stopped rolling.

During a Rap Game promotional interview with HipHopDX, the tenured music mogul spoke candidly how most fans wouldn’t be moved by a kid rapper. Following the series finale–which catapulted to the top of Twitter’s trending topics–he commended himself for sticking to his guns after the end result was brimming with success.

“This is very exciting!!,” he tweeted. “Cause when I introduced this, THEY told me it wasn’t gonna work, didn’t nobody wanna watch kid rappers.”

He also admitted he “hated” dealing an early life blow to the other young contestants and announced that they all would be embarking on an official Lifetime Rap Game Tour.

Miss Mulatto also seized the moment, releasing both her new video, “Broken Record Player” on YouTube and Rap Game single, “No More Talking” on iTunes.

    1. Some more hot garbage. These so called “scouts” looking for “talent” need to kill themselves. A quick search on soundcloud or google will find you at least 20 better artist than her, at the same age. Maybe even younger. Not hatin just statin facts. She’s 17 but has some kindergarten lyrics. Come on now.

    2. Mm is well polished in the game but she most def ain’t tha best rapper out of them all lyrically…. Congrats to you tho Mm…. Fyi yo pops is a great cheerleader for you but cheerleaders jobs are to just cheer his mouth can be alil2fly…. He need to learn to use it when necessary to bag you not to down the next person of there inexperience an especially not the child! Bigger you are the harder you fall! Literally in every aspect of the word!

      1. She was but she had a very bad attitude.. Attitudes are cute but there’s a time and a place for it.. And she wasn’t trying to adjust she felt like she had it going on and no one can tell her anything…

    3. you deserve to get this record deal you are a amazing person. you should feel bad for lil poopy cause he lives a town that is just terrible.

    4. I watched this show to the end and was disappointed that Ms. Mulatto won don’t think she was the better candidate more polished since she has been in the rap game a little longer. I felt like Super Peach had a lot more energy and better raps. I wish all of the young rappers continued success because they all had something to bring to the game.

    5. They all were good but Miss Mulatto was the best all around plus her dad would probably be the easiest parent to work with, Supa Peach attitude and moms and sis attitude wouldve been a problem

    6. Wanted to give props to my girl Miss Mulatto!!! Watched frm beginning to end & was hoping that thy would pick u girl! Balled like a baby when u won, felt like I knew u personally, hahaha-cannot wait to see you grow & live your dream!! You have everything going for u chick! So happy for u! Get em girl!

    7. Young Lyric totally came up as a better artist from the begging, her mom even quit her job to support her..I believe the industry has a place for her music

      1. She’s too monotone. Work on that iambic pentameter. Annunciate. Please choose a name that will help you standout.
