Migos is at the forefront of Atlanta’s revitalized Hip Hop movement.
Along with Rich Gang’s Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug, the fast-rapping trio is “creating the new Atlanta.”
In a recent interview with Vulture, Migos explained how although their counterparts are from different areas in Atlanta, they’re each breaking ground on a new scene within the capital of Georgia.
“We bring the spaghetti, put it in the bowl, mix it together, and we make the new Atlanta,” says Quavo, one-third of Migos. “[Quan and Thug] came from a whole ‘nother side of the city. They got cities and buildings. They got blocks, but on Northside, where we’re from, you got to get in a car and ride together. We turn out the suburbia areas.”
Last year, Migos and Rich Gang collided on the track “New Atlanta.” ATL veteran Jermaine Dupri joined the upstarts on the revamped version of his 2002 hit “Welcome to Atlanta.”
After flooding the Internet last year with two mixtapes – No label 2, Rich Nigga Timeline – the crew says they are no longer making new music.
“We got our itinerary,” Offset says. “Our album should be out in the spring of 2015.”
When asked if they could provide further details on the project, which is a follow-up to its YRN mixtape, Quavo responded with his signature ad-lib: “You know, you just got to wait on it!”
Elsewhere in the interview, the trio provided some context to an image that was released on Twitter last month.
Within the filtered photo, which has since been deleted, Chief Keef and affiliate Tadoe stand side-by-side with Migos. Weeks before, Keef’s GBE camp was blamed for allegedly stealing Quavo’s chain in D.C.
“That was fake Internet beef,” says Offset.
“We were in LA, and bosses made boss calls, and we made honcho calls, and we met like bosses,” Quavo chimes in. “Now we are good. We’re just keeping it moving, and making our money.”
LOL. Gwinette County is NOT Atlanta!~!!! Ya’all from the suburbs!!!
haha. for real, are any “Atlanta” rappers actually from Atlanta or is everyone from the sticks, the boondocks, the trees & the cul de sacs? It’s painfully corny. Beef with Keef? Keef’s music is straight garbage and he’s a clown, but these kids would get eaten alive in englewood or anywhere in the Chi for that matter. Atlanta is looking really bad these days. all these suburban kids who have never actually lived in Atlanta are your best representatives? I mean, I love Outkast and they’re technically not even from Atlanta..but at least they’re from the inner ring, not the boondocks of gwinnet county. these cats are delusional.
The rappers who are actually from inside 285 are rarely pushed and promoted such as Pill. Young Dro, Killer Mike, Alley Boy,and others are from the city and not those suburban ass places. Migos are wack as fuck and I hate this new Atlanta bs.
haha, right?! Atlanta! Lawrenceville is 38 miles from Atlanta. This is who you choose to rep Atlanta?!!? They’d be scared of the city. They live in the sticks of Georgia.
These niggas aint whasup, these niggas lame as fuck
they are rappers NOT hip hop. actually, they are club rappers
Fuck wack ass Migos from suburban ass Gwinnett and not from the A. They’ll never last in zones 1,3,4,4th ward, and zone 6. The 25 and up crowd in the A not fuckin with them lames. Only them 90’s and millennium babies are.
Gucci fucks with them so…
