On Wednesday (July 26), the Chicago rapper announced that The Patience is all set for an August 18 release. In an Instagram post revealing its tracklist, he thanked the spitters featured on the record, namely Freddie Gibbs, JID, Benny The Butcher and Vic Mensa.

The news arrives alongside new single “Guapanese” — which you can listen to here. This comes after Jenkins released his collaboration with JID in early July. Produced by Stoic, “Smoke Break-Dance” is a nimble, bar heavy joint that served as the first single for The Patience.
The 32-year-old’s last album, Elephant in the Room, was released in 2021. Aside from one cut produced by Saba, the package features lesser known collaborators but played a key role in establishing him as an elite MC.
Over the 12 songs, Jenkins showcased his artistic maturity by allowing himself to wander through subversively dense philosophical quandaries packaged neatly as coffee house jazz-hop. His collection is pleasant listening, void of remarkable triumphs or failures.
Elephant in the Room solely exists within comfortable territory. All tracks repackage themes and ideas previously used to great effect earlier in Jenkins’ career. The most common archetype is a “dreamy romp through Mick Jenkins’ daily life.” These songs make the backbone of the album, as the airy vibes permeate even the most brazen and heartfelt tracks.
