Michael Jackson’s nephew Taj Jackson has thanked Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars after the comedian dissed his family years.
On Monday (March 6), Jackson hopped on Twitter to give his thoughts on Chris Rock’s new Netflix comedy special titled Selective Outrage that aired over the weekend. In his routine, Rock took aim at the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, and several other big-name celebrities such as Elon Musk, Meghan Markle and more.
According to Taj Jackson, Chris Rock’s special was nothing but another form of bullying, and he’s had enough of it, especially when he cracked jokes on his deceased uncle just minutes into the show.
“Chris Rock has used my family as punching bags for his entire career. Yet I am supposed to feel bad for him getting slapped and humiliated on the Oscars,” Taj Jackson wrote. “After seeing a new clip of him attacking my dead uncle in the first minutes of his ‘Retaliation-I’m still relevant ‘special, I have 3 things to say.
“1. What did my family ever do to you to warrant these decades of harassment and your constant bullying disguise as jokes? 2. Just because you were bullied early on in life doesn’t give you the excuse to bully others now. 3. Thank you Will Smith.?”
Chris Rock has used the Jackson family name as the butt of his jokes for years, and he’s come under fire from die-hard fans because of it. His special also received some slack from fans who weren’t feeling his Netflix special, where he finally addressed the infamous slap from a year ago.
Many alleged that the comedian was tokenizing himself to his white counterparts. At the same time, other social media users claimed the Selective Outrage special being filmed in Jada Pinkett Smith’s hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, wasn’t by coincidence.
“Chris rock really said he didn’t fight back cuz he has parents lmao. so I guess it implies that will doesn’t, which sounds like the fatherless black child trope which sounds like a white person,” tweeted one fan while another said: “Chris Rock chose to do his standup in my hometown of Baltimore – a city where he has absolutely no connections – when he could’ve easily sold out in his hometown of NYC. Baltimore is also Jada Pinkett Smiths hometown! Ya’ll keep thinking it’s just jokes.”
One of the jokes that addressed the slap had Chris Rock reveal that Will Smith inspired the name of the special. According to the comedian, Will directed his anger over Jada’s “entanglements” toward him which led to the slap heard around the world.
“Will Smith practices ‘Selective Outrage,’” Rock explained. “Everybody who really knows, knows I had nothing to do with that shit. I didn’t have any ‘entanglements.’ His wife was fucking her son’s friend. I normally would not talk about this shit…
“I have no idea why two talented people would do something that fucking lowdown,” he continued. “We’ve all been cheated on. Everybody in here been cheated on. None of us has ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us… on television. She hurt him way more than he hurt me.”
Who ?
Dave Chappelle makes Michael Jackson jokes all the time and this man ain’t ever said shit about it. As Chris said, selective outrage
I really thought that joint was about to be funny, joke was on me for watching that. bruh need
better writers r something.
It’s just comedy. People are soft and wet now. Some body somewhere is getting offended by something. We seem to be regressing as a society.
FACTS!!!
Social media ruined comedy. Everybody thinks they’re a comedian and get their shitty jokes off 24/7 on there, and social media has everyone connected so that they have to share that they’re outraged. We just want to hear some jokes. RIP comedy.
I agree with this man. But Will should’ve broke the pussy jaw…
And you should’ve been stuck at birth
Here we go again. Let’s tell the whole story. Chris didn’t just pick on Michael Jackson. He was showing a relation between what Jackson did to what R. Kelly did and how people can forget Michael’s mistakes by continuing to play and listen to his music, but want to crucify R. Kelly. If you’re gonna go on a rant, then be accurate. Maybe the Jackson’s should own up to what he did and be a little more reserved. Will Smith was pissed at Jada and she provoked it. There is no excuse for that kind of violence.
EXACTLY
First of where was the real evidence Michael did anything? Their was non even with the fbi investigating for years.. but do disrespect the dead pathetic.. this is why Chris is not liked and why more are on will side he deserved way more then a slap to the face.. let him ever disrespect me or my family at a comiden show he’ll get more the a fucking slap.. you all say how bulling bad that’s what he is.. and family members shouldn’t have to hear these nasty untrue bs why their loved ones are in heaven… also the other dude murdered his wife and their was proof of that and he got a way with it for not all the fax biging in play then he continued to mess up but he still alive so talk shit all you want cause they can talk shit back.. the dead can’t.
Admittedly Rock’s new special isn’t great, but I feel comedy as an artform needs to protected from dorks like Taj Jackson.
Worst stand up I ever seen. Give it up kid or fire your writers. I’m in agreement with Taj Michael is dead let the dead rest if the person is alive in most cases they ok with jokes on them. Respect the dead son that was wack. Stick to acting you lost your footing in comedy son.
