Method Man To Step Into The Battle Rap Arena Against One Of The Best To Ever Do It

Method Man is stepping into the battle rap arena with Brooklyn’s Math Hoffa. The veteran battle rapper made the announcement via Twitter on Sunday (August 16).

“Yes. It’s real,” he wrote alongside a photo of the Wu-Tang Clan legend and himself side by side. “#fortheculture.” The text underneath reads, “METHOD MAN vs. MATH HOFFA.”

On Monday morning (August 17), Hoffa was evidently still hype and plugged the impending battle again via Twitter with, “GUESS WHOS NEXT?!”

Attached was a tweet from the apparent director of the forthcoming battle video that read, “When the hate don’t work they start telling lies.’ Had the pleasure of #directing this #battle #video with my main mans ty sounds salute to the legends @methodmanofficial @MATHHOFFA @AvocadoIsGod #peace #love and #entertainment #hiphop #visualart #thefirefactory #nyc.”

Although Hoffa didn’t provide an exact date for the upcoming main event, he did mention in another Instagram post it was right around the corner.

“#MATHVSMETH THIS BATTLE WILL BE DROPPING RANDOMLY THIS WEEK!!!” he wrote alongside a clip of the battle. “CLICK THE LINK IN MY BIO, SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL & HIT THE NOTIFICATION BELL TO GET THE ALERT! #LEGENDSONLY #ADAPTORDIE.”

Hoffa and Meth’s collaborative relationship stretches back years. In 2011, they connected on the track “Double Barrel” featuring production from J-Glaze. Since then, Hoffa has continued to uphold his reputation as one of the best battle rappers in the business while Meth (of course) has carried the Wu-Tang torch.

    1. This should happen more.

I would love to have Rakim to shut it down…but I don’t need anyone screaming in his face.

      1. It’d be great to see more stuff like this. But I 100% agree. A lot of these rap battles get real passionately corny. Like the WWE of Hiphop. Less antics and theatrics and I bet more mainstream names would throw their hat in.

    2. Meth Rockin that new hoodie from Uncle “Reggie Noble” Red’s store on Staten Island. Math Hoffa bout to body him. These successful emcees never fare well against these battle rap ninjas, just YouTube Canibus vs Dizaster, that ish was treacherous and shameful. But Meth got jokes and stage presence and seems more like the type to snap than Mr. Can I Bus who takes himself too seriously and didn’t prepare the right way. I’ll watch this POS I suppose but I’m not expecting much. One!

    3. Did y’all hear that Math was accused of raping KiKi ? She say he took the box and sent her home in a cab and a LOM hoodie.

    4. #methodmanisDOA. I hope Math doesn’t get playful and gay with it. Hope he salughters the overplayed and overated

          1. If that’s true. Then how can he be overrated? Iv heard all of meths shit over the years and I can see your point on him not having a classic album. But I feel like everyone wants to talk about money and albums. Dude has always been a nice emcee. Butter smooth with the vocals and just super clever emcee. I don’t think you always need all that to be a legend. I honestly don’t see how people can have such hate for a dude like meth.

    5. Method Mad was the one who said that recording/established artists shouldn’t jump on the battle rap train so that they don’t hijack it. Oh the hypocrisy…

    6. Why all the negativity? Meth has always been nice and I remember watching a few battles from Math.. this should be interesting, considering most of these crossovers don’t typically go well. I don’t see Meth pulling a Canibus. You comment section dwellers stay salty. Just let it be fun.

    7. Meth is an undeniable legend but his skill has deteriorated through the years….he doesn’t even sound good on songs anymore so I highly doubt he could hold his own in the battle arena. 20 years passed his prime. 3-0 Hoffa.

    8. Honestly never heard of him lol.
Meth is still a God MC. Hope it’s not that gas ass no music in the background formula they use on those stupid YouTube battles.
Do it good. Drop a beat spit some shit and pass the MIC to your opponent.

    9. Mef will shake up the Battle Rap community bc he understands what its about and he will study his opponent! Waiting to see how it turns out!!!!

    10. If Meth battles to break loops he kills him, if not it could be a long cold night for him. His punchlines gotta go thru his body
