Method Man Joins His Son PXWER & inTeLL Of 2nd Generation Wu For ‘New Generation’ Remix

Wu-Tang Clan luminary Method Man and his son PXWER have linked up on wax for the first time ever on the 2nd Generation Wu remix “New Generation.” Along with inTeLL, the son of U-God, Meth and PXWER effortlessly swap bars over YODI and intelligent’s dark, keyboard-laced beat.

“It’s dope to work with my pops,” PWXER tells HipHopDX. “It’s like a dream come true to be honest. I knew he was gonna body me, but it’s whatever. Not many up and coming artists can say they worked with a Hip Hop legend like Method Man.”

2nd Generation Wu dropped the original “New Generation” cut in February. For this particular single, Young Dirty Bastard (Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s son) and Sun God (Ghostface Killah’s son) are absent, while PXWER and iNTeLL carry the torch.

The New York-bred collective stepped on the scene last November with a lyric video for “7.O.D,” which finds the Wu-Tang seeds flipping “C.R.E.A.M.” on its head with the hook, “God made everything around me/Forget about the money/None of it is real y’all.”

2nd Generation Wu Returns With 2nd Single 'New Generation'

In an interview with HipHopDX, iNTeLL explained how the timing for the group finally felt right.

“I feel like everything just came together naturally with this year being a really good year for the Wu and everything they got going on,” he said. “I’ve been trying to get all the sons together for a minute. I grew up with Meth’s son. He’s my blood cousin. I grew up with Ghostface’s eldest son Supreme, too. He raps, as well. I grew up with them, so I’ve been trying to get us all on a record for years.”

A video for the “New Generation” remix arrives appropriately on April 20. Find the single here.

    1. 2nd Gen Wu is the cheesiest junk ever. It’s the crap as the New NWA where all their kids think they should make a 2nd version of the group… It’s cheesy when celebrities kids try to do the SAME EXACT thing as their parents who became legends did. You can’t become a legend by copying another legends formula, name, and message. I mean, Wu Tang would STILL smoke all these kids on the mic, EASILY. They aren’t amazing MCs. Not bad, sure. Talented? I wouldn’t say much, just sounds good because whats popular today is trash.

      1. Now I can’t speak much for the other sons, but sun God ghostface’s sun been heat since the Theodore.

        1. I actually agree, just listened. He’s quite good. As far as rappers kids go, I’d say Big Puns son is actually very talented, and deserves to be recognized as a original Mc, that is if he continues to get better.

        1. I agree with that, but there is plenty of great hiphop. It’s just not on the radio or billboard hot 100. I love Wu, but as a group, their albums have been pretty bad for years now. Boring. But their solo albums are where many shine. Like ghost face is still killing it. Method Man is always the same, in a good way. But their joint albums haven’t been good for many years. The kids should do their own thing. It’s corny to make a copy of what their parents made. Again, it’s like having “2nd Gen NWA”. Nah, be original. Start something new, that speaks to YOUR generation. I love rappers that are new, with oldshcool sounds, yet make some thing new still, bit just a carbon copy of old school rap.

      2. The best part about the kids taking over the torch is that the world that doesn’t know the original gets to taste of a different flavor other than the industry controlled wrap routine wasn’t controlled by the industry and the second generation won’t be controlled by the industry I think that’s the point that you pull across the talent is a talent because these kids grew up around their father so they’re not trying to emulate the father there being what they were taught and what they were raised you can’t change a persons raising an upbringing and they’re just living there to sales through their parents is a homage through legacy

        1. I get that, but if you don’t already know Wutang, you aren’t gonna find 2nd Gen Wutang lol. These guys will get attention from those who still listen to old-school hiopho. They won’t get popular or radio play and break through to the mainstream by doing this copy. And besides, Wutang is well known by mainstream people who don’t like underground rap. Freaking teenage white girls shout “Wu is for the children”, yet can’t name any albums or the members lol. It became cool in the mainstream for people to dick rude WuTang and NwA.

      3. You sound like a hater Yo! These Young Thundercats got lyrics. They both held their own with Method Man.

      1. 99% of people who say that can’t even name 3 Wu albums lol. I’m not exaggerating either.

        1. Enter the 36 chambers, Wu tang forever, the W. That’s the only 3 Wu tang clan albums with all 9 members. So question is did you know that? And I’m a Mexican from Chicago. I can name all their solo albums there’s alot of classics there. I can name newer Wu tang Clan albums too not classic though.

      1. I think it’s completely average. There is not much lyricism, and it think they essentially sound like someone emulating old-school hiphop. It’s like soulless tap IMO. I think it sounds great when compared to today’s radio rap, but not great when compared to old school hiphop.

    2. please stop. There’s nothing worse than kids riding their parents coat tails. There was only one Wu, find your own way.

      1. Completely agreed. Especially with somthing like this. And what makes it even worse is that WuTang was made up of some great talents… This is literally just taking all their kids, and making a group, rather than finding talented, like minded MCs.

    3. Love wu tang….but 2nd generation album was weak as hell….boring lyrics…boring beats….def not wu material….i was excited when i heard bout it…but when i listened to it i was very disappointed…
