Meek Mill Calls Out Longtime Engineer Over ‘Insane’ JAY-Z & Beyoncé Comments

Meek Mill has criticized one of the engineers who worked on his Championships album for saying he should have gone to work with JAY-Z and Beyoncé instead.

Anthony Cruz, who has worked with Meek as well as the likes of J. Cole and DJ Khaled, said in an appearance on the TmrO Network that he wishes he had skipped the Championships recording sessions for another opportunity.

Cruz admitted he regrets not accepting Young Guru‘s offer to work on Hov and Bey’s 2018 joint album Everything Is Love instead.

“Guru called me when they working on the Beyoncé and Hov album and he’s like, ‘Come to Paris for a couple weeks,'” he recalled. “We had just started the very, very beginning of what would become Championships — and I dubbed it.

“That is a big thing that I have to carry and deal with. I would tell a youngin’ coming up under me, ‘Go to Paris, bro.'”

Meek Mill did not take kindly to the comments and hit out at Cruz for his disloyalty given they have known each other over a decade and the “Dreams and Nightmares” rapper gave the engineer his break.

“I love Cruz but this is bad advice,” he wrote on X. “Championships triple platinum … when I met Cruz he was the store runner I needed an engineer and started using him everyday .. to say you would get up and leave for jayz and Beyoncé is insane to me but new world!”

Meek appeared angry at the idea that Cruz would have taken a different job if he had the chance to redo the situation.

“Imagine building an engineer up teaching them presets working for years in to hear them say they woulda went to Paris instead of worked on what we building sound like jay groupies!” he continued. “Jay my family … yall be selling yall self short and may never even make it to him.”

He then suggested he would be cutting ties with Cruz: “I don’t wanna build with people tryna use my success to jump to the top!”

    Check out his tweets below.

Cruz first worked with Meek Mill on his 2013 mixtape Dream Chasers 3 and has been involved with every project the Philadelphia rapper has released since.

The engineer has yet to respond to Meek’s remarks.

    1. YOU COULDA STAYED IN PHILLY HELPING BUT DIPPED SOON AS ROSS CALLED. DONT HOLD YOUR DAY ONES FROM BLOWING UP DUMMY.

      1. Rick Ross didn’t call shit. Meek was attached to Master P before Atlantic put him with Ross and Maybach. That was just some branding shit to give him a push in the industry, and it worked. It was him, Pill, and Wale. Two out of the three brought return on their investment once they branded them with Maybach Music. Before that, they all were trending toward getting dropped by their label early on.

      2. None of yall built like Philly. Yall stay hating on Meek cause he’s cocky and talented and more street than your little towns and boroughs. Stop hating on my City or come here and talk that shit. We all been to yall little corny towns and cities. We built heavy in Philly. And we don’t care who it bothers! Suckas
