Master P is a jack of all trades and he has his sights set on his next monumental business move. According to Forbes, Master P and 2x NBA All-Star Baron Davis are leading an investment group to purchase Reebok from adidas. Forbes estimates that the deal for the sports apparel giant could be worth around $2.4 billion.
“These companies have been benefiting off us, this could be history for this company going Black-owned,” Master P — born Percy Miller — relayed to ESPN. “Imagine if Michael Jordan owned Reebok? That’s what I’m talking about making history.”
Reebok is no stranger to delving into the Hip Hop world. In 2003, the brand teamed with JAY-Z on the S. Carter sneaker line, which helped Reebok’s footwear sales rise by 17 percent in 2004.
The No Limit boss and Davis plan on combining their expertise and decades of experience in the Hip Hop, sports, tech and business lanes to bring Reebok back to prominence. They will have their work cut out for them, as Reebok’s sales dropped 44 percent in 2020’s second quarter while accounting for just eight percent of adidas’ total sales in the first half of the year.
Davis, who last appeared in an NBA game in 2012 with the New York Knicks, previously signed a sneaker deal with Reebok in 2002 as a member of the Charlotte Hornets.
The New Orleans icon is already in the sneaker game with his MoneYatti brand. As a welcome to New Orleans, Master P offered Pelicans star Zion Williamson $20 million for an exclusive deal to wear his kicks off the floor.
Adidas originally purchased Reebok in 2005 for $3.8 billion. They are expected to make a decision on the looming sale in the coming months.
This investment group is holding the strings to the purse. Same way
they used Magic Johnson face to acquire the dodgers. And for his share he got a small piece of the pie. This generation don’t know P and don’t care to know. He not hot on the street. His music that is. Including his son. Master P’s name couldn’t buy it out of Bankruptcy. Eazy E dead. And his name carry more weight than him.
You don’t know what you talking about. Magic Johnson got a small piece of the pie because he put small money up. It don’t matter how big your name is when you’re actually putting money in. Best believe Master P is not trying to be involved in a deal like that without putting in a lot of money. He’s not a “face.” He’s a business.
Why Your broke ass worrying about P bread when you wish you lived his lifestyle
Would be ironic as hell since Reeboks were what OG Cash Money artists shouted out in damn near every song back in the day.
Oh please, they’d never let that happen, and those dudes have no power and real money…master p always been an exaggerated dude, just like birdman with his oil company…puff owns zero percent of ciroc
READING is fundamental.
“Master P and Baron Davis are LEADING an INVESTMENT GROUP”. So, obviously, other people’s money will be included. P. and B.D. will be the largest investors and face of the company.
Reebok was valued at $995 million in 2018 and that’s when their sales were higher in 2020 sales dropped 40%. There’s no way Adidas is going to get asking price of $2.5 billion for Reebok. I’m glad for P and the group if they can acquire the company and do something with it. All y’all need to stop hating because you dam sure can afford to invest .
Would love to see this move go down, but also I want to know who the other investors are. Don’t just tell us about about B. Davis and P because they’re popular/famous. Also even though I hope they can get it done, I’m skeptical, P hasn’t made a legitimate nice business move in like 15 years and he always shows his hand. But you also have to think if adidas is willing to sale and they couldn’t fully bring Reebok back to what it was what would this investment group be able to do? And why not Just start another company with the money you plan on using purchasing Reebok? Hopefully it goes well.
Wtf you mean P hasn’t made a good business move in 15 years . Ever heard of Rap Snacks brand with the chips and noodles? The Millers bought the company when they almost went under years ago and look at them today. Rap snacks is in over 4,200 walmart stores and 13 Kroger divisions. For P to stay one of the richest rappers still is impressive he knew to invest outside of music because music careers doesn’t last long especially for rappers
You were probably one of those people that believed Jay Z owned the Brooklyn nets until you found out he didn’t own the Nets. Master P is not a owner in the brand rap snacks. James Lindsay is the owner of rap snacks. Master P is just part of their marketing strategy along with the other numerous rappers that are apart of the promotion like fetty wap. All the rappers that are involved with their marketing campaign can’t sell albums, singles, so people are going to buy potato chips, snacks just because their face is on it??? Most likely that will make people not buy it. I’m not hating just being realistic. I like to see rappers branch out and get rich, but everything Master P has done especially in the last 15 years has had a cheap feeling, look, bad execution to it. That goes for commercials promoting online schools like ICDC college that end up not being accredited school that was basically a for profit college that screwed over a lot of people that were trying to get educated, also the cheap bad movies, albums. One of the worst ran known sports agencies.
Facts!! Lol my fiancé works for a company that promotes rap snacks. P don’t own that shit. Rap snacks is trash anyways. All the free samples she brings home aren’t good. She always tell me to add shit to the noodles. If I have to add shrimp/sausage to it then I might as well just make my own gumbo
If Reebok again becomes a hit with Black people like it was back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, white people will follow. So, we know where the marketing-blitz should begin.
by now i would think machines basically print these things out with minimum human labor needed, hop this includes shutting down selling the overseas factories, building new ones here and putting people to work at living wages, P taught an entire generation how to do it, not many listened but to those who did this is true ownership just stop using chinese slaves and itll mean something big
I applaud Master P for running No Limit. But know that in the end it lasted for 12 years. Had major label involvement for distribution most of the time. It ended in bankruptcy.
P then went from Hip Hop to the food business. Now he wants to go to shoes.
Good luck P. I’d like him to stick to rap but whatever.
Did you the same about Jayz and Puffy staying in their lane?
My bad you are right. It is important to diversify. I’m just saying it’s good to stay in a related field. Many times when you see artists go into any endeavour and really far away from Hip hop it’s not good. But I get it, because it’s hard to make a living in music in general. Bless.
Of course there is money in music stupid don’t believe the hype
I don’t like Master P’s awful music and how he set hip hop back years, but I hope he acquire Reebok.
Did you like Jayz and crack selling music? How about Snoop and B$##s ain’t s@#t?
Tru Master P and No limit were wack. Terrible production, lyrics and cheap looking album covers.
Those album covers where the best covers back in the 90s
I think it’s funny how people throw the word ownership around. Like you own something and the money will just roll in.
Running a successful business is very difficult. There are thousands of fake business on social media. I only know of one friend who has been running a successful business for over 20 years. He’s on point and disciplined. It’s not easy and it takes a good amount of money to start. Good luck everyone.
Bring back those old school Percy Miller basketball sneakers under the Reebok Umbrella. Shit would be amazing
Classic Reebok’s for the Summer 2021 !
I really hope they acquire it for the culture
For the culture lmaoo shut your stupid mouth. Blacks have no culture lol just the lowest of low in America but think they got a “culture”
You talk real tough behind a computer screen cracka.
Ur so weak say that to a strong black man weakass bitch
“benefitting off us?” – would having a black CEO or chairman make that transaction – money for merchandise – morally just and not unjust? What a load of poo. It’s not benefitting, its business. Not sure anyone was forced to buy the latest reeboks or adidas…
Ur so weak say that to a strong black man weakass bitch
Master P is about to Bring back the Soulja Reaboxs back
