Cash Money Records’ Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams were honored as 2013’s BMI Icon Award recipients at this year’s BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards, which were held at the Manhattan Center in New York City.
Birdman and Slim were honored because of their work since 1991, as founders of Cash Money Records. DJ Khaled, Mystikal, Future, Ace Hood, Turk, Mannie Fresh and Juvenile were among the artists who participated in the tribute to the business partners. Songs that were performed in the tributereportedly included renditions of “Slow Motion” by Curren$y and “Ha” by Mystikal.
Nicki Minaj, Benny Blanco and Hit-Boy were also honored at the event as they shared the Songwriter of the Year award. Minaj was honored for her work on “Dance (A$),” “Girl On Fire,” “Make Me Proud,” and “Starships,” which also received Song of the Year honors. Blanco was honored for his work on “Diamonds,” “Heart Attack,” “Payphone,” and “Work Hard Play Hard.” After working with Kanye West, Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar and others, Hit-Boy earned the night’s Producer of the Year award.
Cash Money Records has released many projects over the years, including Juvenile’s 400 Degreez, B.G.’s Chopper City in the Ghetto and Big Tymers’ Hood Rich.
This is the first time in years that Juvenile, Turk, Mannie Fresh and Cash Money’s Birdman and Slim were together in a function harmoniously. This follows talk about a Big Tymers and a Hot Boys reunion.
In March 2013, Mannie Fresh addressed reunion rumors.
“It might happen without me,” Fresh said. “It would take a big, hot check for me to be there. That’s all I’m telling you. Maybe he [Turk] got something in mind that he wants to do, but I’m curious to see how that plays out. Because from what I understand he has some issues with Cash Money…It’s just more so of you just gotta pay people. It’s not like it’s a hard concept, like it can never happen or whatever. You’ve got rockers that go on stage and it’ll be like, ‘I hate you and I hate you. And I’ll see your ass in Cincinnati tomorrow.’ And what makes it all better is, ‘You know what, I’m getting my money. You getting your money. We cool.’ That’s the whole bottom line.”

So was this an award on how to successfully not pay producers? Or how to sign 70 acts, and only have 5 of them regularly release albums? Or is it an award on how to “Shine every summer and grind every summer”?

They apologized to us for trying to rape us and we forgive them but we can’t take them back. God hopes only Drake doesn’t follow their path.
Still wrong, bitch.
Then why else could Mannie Fresh hav left Cash Money?
Nigga slim look like a black lurch lol! Fuck cash money. No limits discography kills their shit. mannie fresh a real nigga though.
The rise of No Limit and Cash Money was the downfall for hiphop. Look at the hiphop records befor 1998 and after it!
My African-American history professor said the same thing last school yr. He said Hip-Hop became stagnant after 1998 and nothing new is being done. Old themes being rehashed.

I believe they meant that those rappers are covering Juvenile’s songs.
